This statement is an acceptable one for a candidate, when he has a chance of winning. Keyes had already lost. Therefore, it was sheer mean-spiritedness to make this comment, and to follow it up with an "I will be saying I told you so" argument.

First you told us that these comments weren't believable. Having lost that argument, you are now trying Clintonisms to twist the meaning of what was said.

And just exactly who is despicable?

Really, Miss Marple, and who made you God. As far as I know there is a God to decide what is 'acceptable', and you are not him. In fact, this piece was published in the first half of March, and was based on an interview that probably occurred a few days earlier. Even in last year's ridiculously accelerated primaries, the majority of the delegates had not yet been picked, and so Keyes had not already lost.
