We have very many like that here. We had the garment workers who came here over 20 years ago, never learned a word of English or obtained an education. Now their jobs are lost --sent to Mexico with NAFTA and the majority are on some kind of government program still. They only came for the money and low wage jobs, those are gone but we taxpayers will be taking care of them the rest of their days.

There are some very good immigrants who are eager to learn the language and our history ---but those are the only ones we need. All the ones who still display their Mexican flags and refuse to learn our language aren't the type we need here. They might be useful as low wage workers for a time but with low education levels, they are too inflexible when times change. It's a myth that they all come to work though because even places with very high unemployment rates like we have here ---9-10% in good times, they still move in ---we need to do something about giving citizenship to a baby born to illegals who come over just for that reason.

I think that we all agree that illegal immigration is a big problem for American taxpayers.. but Immigration should not be perceived as a threat to American Culture.
I personally do not see a need to more legislation to prevent illegal immigration. It'd would be so simple to just enforce current laws
1. Border states should get additional funding to deploy their state guard or increase border patrol along US borders.
2. forget National ID Cards, just make sure that the current US IDs are legitimate. Re DLicense whole states if necessary, make banks, phone co., GAS/Electricity Co., ask their customers for proof of citizenship, proof of residency for foreign citizens. Make this mandatory for renting property.
3. Employment auth. checks. it takes seconds for VISA to check if one credit card is valid in a database of billions. the .gov should be able to provide employers with a system to check for employment auth.
4. like it or not, these people are part of the economy... The US needs a Migrant Work Program. Illegal in the US should register with the INS, be given a 1 year work permit in which they're required to work (and pay taxes) nine months out of the year.
5. Triple penalties for hiring illegal workers. Will this face opposition in southern borders states? of course it will. Will there be a second term (or a political future) for whomever proposes this? probably not. and that is where the problem is. Back to the book. I have not read it, will wait for it to come on tape/CD. but from the short review posted by drudge, it seems that he, (and most people in this board), is too hung up on non-eurtopeans/non-christians becoming a world (and US) majority over the next few decades.
