We have to understand that the passengers on flight 93, that tried to defend themselves and did defend others on the ground, did in fact form an "impromptu militia." If their Second Amendment right had been honored and they had been armed, they may have been able to save their own lives.

Ever heard of anyone doing an armed robbery of a gun shop?

Ever heard of anyone doing an armed robbery of a range?

The fact is that - even in a place full of overwhelmingly young males armed to the teeth with small arms (Army bases) - nobody seems to be "going postal" on colleagues!

Scandals of antigun politicians - from Kalifornia to New York!

The mantra that people should behave passively when confronted by criminals seems impervious to all the scholarly research that indicates that passivity is definitely not the safest course of action.

That is the government's mantra.

On 9-11, the heroes of Flight 93 decided that the 'conventional wisdom' of our leaders would not help them. Only when they disregarded the government's procedure for dealing with violence did they minimize the loss of life - possibly even saving the lives of some of those who support pacifism, if the plane was headed for the Capitol. Ironic.

Stay away from those government-created gun-free victimization zones, and you'll have no problem with terrorism. Places such as public buildings, public schools (sporting events), public aircraft and airports, etc., any large gatherings of unarmed citizen-victims.

Gigantic John Lott BUMP !

Concealed is the key. While I was working security details some years ago with my Dad...my favorite concealment t-shirt was an old one, with a rainbow peace sign. I also tend to wrap small "pocket" pistols in paper money, topped-off by more, deliberately crumpled ones....to drop, diverting attention, while the main "wad" makes its appearance. Nothing like cash to distract a crook! I also find the bills aid a smooth draw, preventing the hammer from catching on clothing.

Experience is the best teacher...and I was blessed by some old timers' advice early on. I am trying to continue the favor. 'Worked for me...thank God.

In many respects having a firearm is like having a parachute. It's better have it and not need it as opposed to needing it and not have it.

"Nor are permit holders vigilantes. Up to 98 percent of defensive gun uses simply involve people brandishing their weapon. It is only as a last resort that people fire their weapon and even most of firings are merely warning shots."

There is nothing more sexy than a man who states the truth, plain and simple.

John Lott...what a guy!
