I bought a German white before Christmas (just picked it up in the supermarket) thinkin' it was a New World Chardonnay. Opened it up at home, and had a glass. LOVED it. It was a Riesling :-)

Whimper>

I lived in the wine-making region of Germany for four years. Got hooked on German wine, especially white. Also spent several months in southern Italy where we could drive a few miles off base and visit several vinyards. Then I came back to Vermont. Here wine is MUCH more expensive, and it's tough finding stuff I like. I'm spoiled now. Sigh.

Wine is quiet expensive in Ireland in comparison to the continenent. How much would you pay for a regular ol' bottle of plonk (not quiet vinegar, but not break open for the posh aunt variety?)

I don't normally like German wine (I find most of the white's are quiet sweet. But I liked the Riesling!)
