Can you imagine about 20 very opinionated FReepers in a room together celebrating this very religious holiday? You'd have atheists, Protestants, Catholics and Jews.

Pro-drug warriors, anti-drug warriors, Freepers who think South Park is funny, freepers who think South Park is evil, Fundamentalists, Libertarians, Fundamentalist libertarians, anti-immigration, pro-immigration etc...

What a great party it would be!!!!!!

You know, I've been active for a few months and my impression is that most Freepers (other than the few obvious agitators that we all run into) are very comfortable debating opinions contrary with their own if presented in rational and respectful ways. After all, our underlying beliefs converge or we wouldn't bother being here, despite particular disagreements we may have on isolated issues. For me, the greatest attraction of conservatism has always been that rational thought is more powerful than dogmatic ideological belief.

Properly organized, such an event as suggested could be a modern Congress. A place where new ideas might bubble up. Potentially a whole lot of fun, besides. Who knows? Probably worth investigating though, eh?

Hmmmm? Fundamentalists and Irish Catholics - now there's a great mixture.

As for me - I may have been single for a few years, but my grandchildren keep me busy. I usually spend time with them. I realize some of you are too young for grandchildren, but there are plenty of volunteer places you can go - no matter where you live - and when you are busy giving to others, it doesn't seem to be so lonely.

My idea of a Christmas party is what my church does - everyone is included in the gathering. We have sign-up sheets, and people can bring whatever they want. Some of the best stuff is brought by MEN. We are one happy family - not groups.

Wouldn't it now? Actually the FReepers I know in person are a great bunch of people. I have determined that if I should marry again, he MUST be a FReeper!
