Apparently VH-1 has accepted the arrival of censorship with great glee. The concert for the heroes of the New York City Police Department and Fire Department was about them, not about the music. The music was secondary to honoring the men who gave their lives, and those who risked them trying to save ordinary people. It was not about false cheers for a carpet-bagging politician who had no reason to be there.
By removing their honest reaction to that politician, who inserted herself where she did not belong, you have insulted every member of NYPD and FDNY. Do you curry favor with her? Maybe she will bake you some cookies and deliver them to the tape editing department?
There are few people around who are unaware of the audience reaction to Mrs. Clinton (when did she drop the Rodham -- before or after the scandals involving her brothers? I forget) Cutting out the boos she so thoroughly deserved only help remind us of her and her staff's so ungracious reaction to the feelings of true heroes.
Removing Mike Moran's speech was just as bad. For a cable network that delights in showing what many have called "obscene" videos and lyrics, you delete the words of the brother of a Battalion Chief who died trying to save others? Shame on you. Shame on all of you.
No, my deleting VH-1 and MTV won't matter much to your little network. But as I pass the information around, I hope it will make a huge difference. In fact, a published apology, and running the deleted parts by themselves might be the only way to make up for your Orwellian attempts to re-write history.
