I have watched several pieces on this sad situation, from different media outlets --something is not right here--I have a real bad feeling re: mother's attitude. Her physical reactions are not congruent with the immense nature of the act. Always look for behavior that is congruent and stuff is not matching up in this case. I will be very happy to be wrong.

There were witnesses to the incident, according to the Sun Times, and one guy attempted to chase the woman running off with the kid. Police have interviewed him for several hours, and everyone's clear of suspicion, even the father in Milwaukee.

I saw that in various media outlets. The mom looked in shock. I hope the child is recovered very soon--if not, I hope AMW profiles this case and gets that baby back.

You can bet your bottom dollar that the mother is the prime suspect right now. Everything I've ever read or heard about these types of cases says that the parent is always the prime suspect when a lack of hard evidence exists. Susan Smith comes to mind.....

Thanks for posting this. It is the first I've heard of outside witnesses confirming the mother's report. Guess I need to apologize for suspecting the mom.

Saw on the news this evening that the Chicago P.D. has cleared her of any wrongdoing. They've cleared the entire family already as well. There was also a witness who chased the woman who had the baby in her arms, but she got away.

Now, I'm somewhat familiar with the Chicago Greyhound terminal since I had to pick up and then drop off my grandmother there a month back. Much as I hate it, she only travels by bus. The Greyhound terminal is pretty small, less than 5,000 square feet total. It does get pretty crowded in there, but I find it very hard to believe that they "lost" the woman who took the baby.

Some of this is very hard for me to believe. I find it hard to believe that someone would be so STUPID to trust a 16 month old to a complete stranger. I find it very hard to believe that even in a "crowded" terminal that this woman managed to get "lost in the crowd." Something really stinks here, and I just can't quite put my finger on it...

she accepts a ride from a stranger and gets on line and leaves the two kids with stranger. stranger walks away with young child, then she says "i did not want to lose my place in line" so she did not run after the women. this is what was on the news this morning. now of course being the cold hearted person that i am i cursed the mother out because she is a moron for accepting a ride from a total stanger, next she gets in line to return her ticket and forgets about her children, next she did not want to lose her place in line so she did not run after the women................some people should be fixed and never have children, she should stay home if she cannot handle traveling and two children. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

called out to give jasmine back!

it seems a mother would be shrieking her head off and giving chase!
she sounds too calm to me, and i'll bet the cops see that too!

My wife says the mother reminds her of Susan Smith.

We heard this story on the way home to Milwaukee this afternoon on local Milwaukee radio. First thing I said to my wife was, "sounds like something fishy to me." First words out of her mouth were, "another Susan Smith."

This whole thing just doesn't add up somehow.

1. I hope the child is safe and returned quickly.
2. I hope we don't find out that the mother is part of the old "live in Chicago"
and "live in Milwaukee" double-dipping into the welfare funds scheme.

I thought that had been cured by welfare reform...and hope I'm just being a curmudgeon
for even thinking such a thing...

I saw the mother on TV this morning, and (a) she's the OLDEST-looking 21-year-old I've ever seen (b) something VERY fishy about the way she said "I was stressed" over and over, making excuses for what happened. About the third time I heard it, it was starting to sound like an unfinished sentence--"I was stressed (and that's why I killed my baby)".

Hope I'm wrong, and if I am I can just continue to blame Susan Smith for my cynicism and lack of sympathy. But I don't believe the mother. I just do not.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the precious, priceless gift of children! You know where this little girl is, Dearest Father. You know what actually happened that day and who has this dear liitle one now. Father, please provide a means of return to those who love her. Let someone see this child and call the police, and let the police take an active interest in finding this child. Give them all the clues and leads they need Dearest Lord to find this child. Grant them success in every way as they search and ultimately find this little one. Surround her with Your angels, Father, to give her rest, sanctuary, food, water and warmth to sustain her until she is found. Keep her from any and all danger.

Thank You, Mighty Father! And once she is found, bring her family together in love and support as they never have been before. Create the desire and willingness to raise this child the way You want her raised. In Jesus' name I ask these things, that this dear child be restored to her family, and Your name glorified! Amen!

"But in the mean time, before you waste all your time praying,..."

Listen up, and listen carefully. Praying is NEVER a waste of time. EVER. You can doubt or scoff to your little heart's content; I couldn't care less. Just know that God is sovereign, and He DOES listen to and answer prayer every day, everywhere, the world over. I know this. I feel sorry for you if you don't.

Someone who would put more faith in voting for "Republicans" than God Himself is one who has his/her priorities (and common sense) WAY out of whack.

My prayers lifted up with you for this child.

Heavenly Father, be with this child right now. Be with the searchers, let them find her wherever she may be. Lay a conviction on those that would have done such a horrible thing and bring this young one back to her loved ones. In Christ's Name. Amen

I kept looking for abject loss to come from this "bereaved" mother which even I as a man would have been beside myself with fear and trepidation and unable to speak coherently.

the thing is we don't want to get into that "dingo got my baby" mentality that judges people who don't appear to show the kind of grief we WANT them to show...i mean, we criticized bill clinton for turning the grief on and off depending on camera proximity.

that said, it just does not feel right. there is something screwy here. just because the family was "cleared" by chicago police (ha!) and someone chased the woman who took the child, doesn't mean a scam isn't being run.

Time is the tester of all things that are claimed to be one way or the other.

The sad part is the little girl, innocent of all chicanery, is the one who is in harms way.

I truly hope she is not in jeopardy, as do all others I'm sure, and that whatever the outcome about the truth may be she will be restored to a safe and loving environment no worse for the wear.

In Jesus name, Amen!

The intent of this thread is for prayer support and spiritual warfare, not to voice political views.

Adding my voice to prayers said for this little girl.

This is definitely a possibility, and simply reaffirms the urgency for prayer for this little girl!
