Poll: IF, and this is a BIG if...

Posted on 12/21/2001 6:52:48 PM PST by LSUsoph

Dick Cheney due to health reasons decides to withdrawl his name from the ticket in 2004 after a very successful term as Vice President. He figures he can still stay close to the President and advise him in any way possible, but not have to deal with the every day hustle of being the Vice-President of the country. So who would President Bush pick to be his new VP? I think Condi Rice would be a wonderful choice but I dont know if this country (especially the Republican Party) is ready for a VP who is black, a woman, and from the South (Alabama). I also love Powell but would he and Pres Bush be able to work hand in hand as P-VP? Donald Rumsfeld is a terrific Sec of Defense and I think he would make a great President one day...maybe him being VP could lead us to 8 great years of a Rumsfeld Presidency after 8 great years of Bush. Other candidates that come to mind would be Tom Ridge, Liddy Dole, Ashcroft, and dare i say it...JOHN MCCAIN ( i know, i know, but i think the Bush-MCcain ticket would be a shoe in). My pick would have to be Rice, she is worth her weight in Gold. She is a genius, works well with Bush, and would really be great for the country. And what would the naysayers say after Bush nominates a black woman to be his right hand WOMman?? I think they would just have to throw up the white flag! GO DUBYA!

Rumsfeld..... naw... born 1932

Powell... naw.. born 1937..

Dole.... naw... born 1936...

Why do you have this problem with those born in the thirties? Perhaps it's your own youth?

There have been just a few Presidents who served, and served well, past their sixties,Reagan and Eisenhower come to mind.....maybe before your time,eh?

I won't even vote for a state legislator who supports so-called abortion "rights."

Then you're the sucker they think you are...

That's not something I'd be proud of, ya' know???

Science (ultrasound technology, DNA technology, etc. ) has proven the humanity of the unborn. Abortion is THE issue since IN ORDER FOR ONE STATE TO OUTLAW ABORTION, THE SCOTUS MUST OVERTURN ROE V. WADE - Presidents must be pro-life to make this happen.

Who cares, indeed!!! Who cares if someone is otherwise "conservatuve" if they do not stand up for innocent American babies who are slaughtered at the rate of 4000 each day by appointing pro-life justices and issuing pro-life executive orders (which merely disallow federal funding of abortion)?

Lot's of folks care.

That's because a lot of the people out there are too stupid to know better.

Think I'm wrong? Why do they believe Dan Blather and Whore-aldo Rivera? Why do they accept the bovine excrement that spews from Tom Brokaws mouth, every night???

Are you really so niave as to think that the majority are actually smart enough to find their butts with both hands and set of written instructions???

1/2 of them voted for GORE, for crying out loud. That, by definition, shows that at least half of the voting public is too stupid to be allowed to vote...

Rule #1, to be conservative, is that you have to at least attempt to think for yourself...

"Five percent of the people think; ten percent of the people think they think; and the other eighty-five percent would rather die than think."

What does anyone think would happen with the black vote if it's Condi Rice for VP?

Presidents must be pro-life to make this happen.

If you believe this, then you fall in with the other 85%...

Sorry, but you are the weakest link.

Goodbye!

Agreed. I would like to see him move Kay Cole James up and out of the OPM to be his VP.

You asked who cares, and I provided statistics from the last exit poll showing that Bush's pro-life stance was worth 2.5 million more votes than Algore's pro-abortion stance. Of course, your opinion is certainly more valuable than any exit poll.

"Simply put, that translates into a Bush advantage on the abortion issue of 2.5 million votes in an election that Gore won nationally by more than 540,000 votes."

Republicans have lost so many voters over the abortion issue! Fuhgetaboutit!!!

Well the exit polls from the last election say your wrong. According to liberal Mark Shields and the liberal Los Angelas Times:

"Simply put, that translates into a Bush advantage on the abortion issue of 2.5 million votes in an election that Gore won nationally by more than 540,000 votes."

Pro-abortion is the apropriate factual term.

This is one of the reasons the Repuplican party has so much trouble. The irrational element just cannot understand that being opposed to the government being the ultimate authority, rather than an individual's own moral values, is the intent of a free republic. So long as the republicans hold on to these socialistic views, those true to the principles of the founders of this country will often vote against the Republican party.

Because someone believes it is not the government's business to decide how people deal with their private moral issues does not mean those people are opposed to what is right. Many people who hate abortion are opposed to the government having the power to decide who lives and who does not.

When these misguided pseudo-moralists finally get their way, and the government is the final authority on whether a child shall live or not, they can be sure it will be their children the government will decide should not live.

Electing Condi Rice VP in 2004 and President in 2008 would essentially amount to an abortion of the Democratic Party. IMHO
