A side issue here, but curious as the rule of thumb to guage the EMP radius of a nuke of a certain size air detonated at a given altitude? Curious as to how much damage they could do in that fashion if they would ever get their hands on one.

That is one of the more complex issues regarding nuclear weapons. There isn't a simple answer that says "every electronic device within this circle is destroyed, everything outside this circle is safe." Heck, you could have two identical devices (laptop computers, say) right next to each other and one would become a $2500 paperweight, the other wouldn't even hiccup.
