Little girl in need of good thoughts and prayers

This is an e-mail that I recieved from my best friend in Texas, we served together in Turkey, and I love him dearly. One of his sons is named after me, and I am his daughters godfather.

This little girl needs all the good energy and prayers that you freepers can give her. She is in a world of hurt and it just breaks my heart that I can't be there in Texas for them at this trying time. Please read the following, I am leaving it totally unedited, I am hoping that by doing this, I am bringing as much energy to bear on this child as possible through all you wonderful freepers.

By now I'm sure everyone has heard all sorts of stories in all sorts of ways about my daughter and what we're going through right now! I had to come in tonight to take care of a few things around Cuero-way, and spend some time with my boys. What I went through today and the past few weeks I wouldn't wish on even the worst of enemies. Kathy is six years old for some of you who may not know us to well. She came down with a strange and so far, unknown virus the week of Thanksgiving. She's had vomiting, excrussive headaches, back, neck, & leg aches. We have been to San Antonio to a specialist and he performed an endoscopy on her last week to find that her throat, stomach, and intestines were full of ulcers. Saturday night she had stroke like symptoms and was transported to Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi where she spent a few days in PICU. We were moved onto the floor in a regular room day before last. She has had initially the endoscopy and bi-opsies of her stomach and small intestine, a cat scan, mri/mra, two spinal taps (the second today), more sticks and pokes with the needle than a swarm of bees could give ya! So forth and so on... We are still in the fog about what is going on, they have brought in an infectious disease specialist to help, with his team, find out what is going on. Her white blood count is very high, she has pressure on the brain, her optic nerves in both eyes are swollen, the eeg showed abnormal brain waves on the left side of her brain and now they have ordered the second mri/mra series on her and a new set of cultures. The best we could get out of this new Dr. today was she has a fungus type of meningitis. It will take several days for him to determine which strand of the virus it is. Supposed to be hundreds of different types. Anyway, so we are still not certain as to the why's and what for's yet. The wait and watching her suffer are a tremendous stress, to be so helpless in a situation which we can only give to God and pray about! I wanted you to hear it straight from me and right now that is the best and most I can tell you all. She is in room 705 at Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX. Keep us in your prayers -friends! God is the most awesome healing power and I have faith we will get to the bottom of this and get her treated and back on her feet. OK, I just got an E-mail from Dennie, now 2 of his sons have started with the same symptoms that Kathy had at first, throwing up for NO apparent reason, no temperature, no aches or pains, just started throwing up.

He is now stressed to the MAX!! He needs LOTS of prayers freepers, and I mean LOTS.

We also need some help finding Doctors that might have a clue what the heck is going on.

I had a revelation today, a friend of ours had Toxic mold in thier house, and had some major medical problems, not like this, but pretty scary all the same.

I have asked Dennie to see if he can locate any molds in his house. If any freepers have any info on Toxic mold and possible symptoms, It is sounding environmental, and I need some opinions here.

Heavenly Father, You love little children so much and you never want to see any of these precious souls suffering. Father, these children are suffering. Their loved ones are suffering because they cannot do anything to ease their afflictions. Please lead the health care workers to the correct diagnoses quickly, Mighty God. You know exactly what is wrong and how the are being sickened. Please Father, have mercy on these little ones and allow the doctors and epidemiologists to discover the causes and decide on an appropriate course of action. Sustain and support these children as treatments are instituted, and comfort Dennie. Let him know without any doubt that You are caring for his children and that You will heal them. Let him get much needed rest, and fill him with Your strength and clarity of mind. Thank You, Most Merciful Father! In Jesus' name I ask these things, that the precious children will be healed and suffer no longer. Amen!

Aric, many mold spores are invisible to our eyes. Dennie may want to ask that an epidemiologist be consulted. These people work hand-in-hand with physicians to discover the causes of illnesses, and every hospital should have at least one epidemiologist on staff.

I have asked my church to include the children on their prayer list, and we prayed for the family in service today. I pray that the reason for the illness can be found and that all the children will be healed. Sending Love and prayers to the parents, My children being home is a testiment to Gods Love and that he answers prayers. Please hang in there, God will see the family through this.

Have they called Rice? That is quite a good university hospital in TX.

It is not just the little girl now, see post 204, this mentions that the boys are now showing signs of starting the same problems. Hold them up in prayer also, please, and pass the word. I know it must be terribly difficult for aric2000, too keep up with all of this. I continue to hold him up in prayer too, for strength and comfort.

This is "dad" back on-line tonight. Just wanted to give all my freeper friends, brothers & sisters a little update. First let me thank each and every one of you guys for the prayers and helpful info as well as moral support! Kathy is still in the hospital and we are still in the dark as to what is going on. They had to move the iv to her foot today because all the veins in both arms are too gone and have been stuck to many times for all the various tests. She is scheduled to have a x-ray scan on Wed. and if they still can't find anything they are talking about a test in which they will inject her with dye and go into her veins with cameras to look for some sort of cardio-vascular disease or circulation problem? I'm still not to sure about that one! Enough is Enough!!! Stress, anger, and anxiety are setting in pretty hard now. I wish I could give good news but unfortunatly as of yet, I just don't have any! I have my faith in God that she will pull through all this but it's the watching her suffer and all the pain she has to endure that is tearing her mother and I up! Keep the prayers going and the comments coming. God I pray in your son Jesus' name and thru your grace and honor, in your glory father, and your ultimate devine healing power, to have mercy on my daughter and give her the healing power of your spirit and love. Grant her a speedy recovery and give the doctors in her care the knowledge to figure out the cause of this rare illness!
