Well, I agree about the hyphenated-American thing. But, I was surprised to find out how many famous and successful Americans were of Arab descent (is that better?). Most of these people's families have been in the U.S. for over a 100 years and most of them are not Muslim.

No Kidding! You hit the nail on the head! Everybody needs to drop this attitude that Americans of Arab descent (Arab-Americans as some would call them) are somehow different than Americans of European descent. You and I are just as much of an American as any of those listed above, or any other American of any race/religion/etc.

IMHO, the hyphenated American fad really picked up steam as a result of the mini-series 'Roots'.

Let's face it, we all are hyphenated. Except for native-Americans ( and if we go back far enough, they are too) we or our ancestors came from another country.

Time for us to pledge our loyalty to AMERICA and remember our heritage as intereresting history
