W's whole spiel reminds of the time his Daddy got on national TV and held up that big bag of crack (you know, the one they had to give directions to the drug dealer for, so they could say they bought it across from the White House) and proudly proclaimed "This scourge will end!" Ranks right up there with "Read my lips, no new taxes".

I can understand the need to want to end a scourge, but the methods they use to achieve this end defy all aspects of Constitutional government, Free Market Economics, and Common Sense.
