Here's exactly what Ashcroft said: "To those who pit Americans against immigrants, and citizens against non-citizens, to those who scare peace-loving people with phantoms of lost liberty, my message is this: Your tactics only aid terrorists, for they erode our national unity and diminish our resolve."

Do you disagree with any part of this? I see this as truth, pure and simple.

In so far as this much here, it doesn't sound good, in context with his recent actions. It the people's duty to keep our government in check, and we shouldn't be critisized for it.

I don't share the position of people who are just out to disparige the Bush administration. The war is far beyond justification.

But I'm angry with the lack of concern for the constitution that led to our situation, that led to the government's failure to protect us, that is being answered with even more diminishing of our freedoms.

The government is run by people who would love to take as much power as we are willing to give them. It's worth fighting to protect it.

And the scare mongering is on the side of the government who is profiting from the fear of terrorists.
