I'm getting a serious attraction to German shorthairs, for a woods buddy and bird hunting. My buddy (human type) has a German wirehair, but it is too hyper for me.

Anyone here know a little about the shorthairs?

I think the best advice I would have is exercise, exercise, exercise. And start training at an early age.

Pointers are wired and hyper by function.... They have to be to do their job... Retrievers and the other breeds that are "a gentleman's hunting companion" would be better if you don't like hyper!
