The horrific events of September 11 gave rise to many acts of heroism by numerous brave Americans. Many of these stouthearted souls have been duly honored. However, not all heroes are so honored. Some are left to suffer the devastating consequences of their courage alone and are totally forgotten. One such American hero is Linda Tripp.>Does anyone remember Linda Tripp? Linda is the Pentagon employee whose honesty and courage led to Bill Clinton's impeachment. During a time when Democrats were 800-pound gorillas, Republicans were 90-pound weaklings, and the media were nothing more than Clinton lap dogs, Linda Tripp stood up to the awesome power of the establishment in a fashion not heard of since little David faced off against Goliath of Gath. Unfortunately for Linda (and for the rest of us, too), she has not been rewarded for her sacrifice.
Instead, news reports recently revealed that Tripp is virtually penniless. She has not been able to find work since being fired by Clinton's war machine. As a result, she has lost her home to foreclosure, and any prospects for gainful employment appear minimal. Linda went from a job paying more than $100,000 per year to joblessness and penury almost overnight. "For what reason?" you ask. She heroically stood up for truth, justice, and constitutional government.
President Bush's "compassionate conservatism" has not helped, either. One would think that one of Bush's first priorities would be to reward those great Americans who suffered so intensely under Clinton. It did not happen. Linda's phone never rang; her job was given to someone else. Linda Tripp has been treated as so much debris. She has received no kind words, no congratulations, no accolades, no rewards, nothing. However, Linda Tripp is an American hero! She represents justice and courage in a way that most people could only dream about.
It appears that heroes are not created equal. It is not enough that one is heroic; he or she must be heroic in a matter deemed politically correct. Therefore, Linda Tripp is left to live out her days in obscurity, without appreciation or honor. Instead, Linda has seen herself become the butt end of every late night comedian's act. She has been denigrated by the press, hounded by the Democratic Party, and abandoned by the Republican Party.
No, not all heroes are honored. Some, like Linda Tripp, must wait for a higher power to reward them. In the end, I suppose it is always that way. Real heroes do not seek the applause of others; their reward was found in what they did. They make most of us seem small especially that crowd in Washington, D.C.
Not familiar with Fitzgerald? Ask blabbing Linda.
No one likes a stooly. Not even a Republican.
Can you expand on that? I'd appreciate some information instead of invective.
I didn't say I wouldn't hire her, had I a job to provide, but only that an employer might be reluctant (Thanks again, Arthur) to do so. In other words, it's a possibility to consider.
Isn't that a personal attack? I expected a little more here than just a third-grade schoolyard quality razz.
Hmmmmm....Monica wanted Linda to commit perjury. Monica handed Linda paragraphs of legalese 'talking points'. Monica called/emailed/voice mailed Linda incessantly regarding her 'affair' her fears, her apprehensions and suspicions of danger. Monica was not a friend, just a user. Just an unskilled, unpricipled worker caught up in the 'glamor' of power and influence.
How could Monica be a friend if she just wanted to protect herself and others by requesting Linda to commit a crime?
Seems Linda was only protecting herself. Betrayed? Not cool? I would have also taped/documented these crimes.
Is Maryland one of those "certain states?"
In most states you can record your own conversations, though not third parties'. In Maryland it is a crime to record your conversations IF you KNOW about the law. It was never proven that Linda had any knowledge of this law. But with all the publicity regarding Linda/Monica, if it would be very difficult to now plead ignorance of this Maryland law.
So, in this case, ignorance of the law is a defense?
As I said above, I have no skin in this game. I just posited a guess as to why she is still looking for work, even with a Republican administration in the White House.
After all, any "law" that keeps people from recording their own conversations, is at least silly, if not likely unConstitutional, as no State has prior claim to an individual's property.
Yes! In Maryland, for this law...yes. In the 1998-2000 timeframe, it was repeatedly brought up that without witness' statements, no DA would take this case. All the defendent would have to plead is that they did not know it was against the law.
However, that did not hinder the Clinton enablers/apologists from filing a case against Linda Tripp.
I'm sure this Maryland law will be rewritten.
Someday they will be exposed, but the time is not now. Because so many Democrats are sociopaths, the level of conscience necessary to understand why this type of behavior is wrong is beyond them.
Democrats don't share our values. They believe it's OK to lie, they believe powerful men like Clinton should be able to rape powerless women, and then trash others like Linda. If Democrats had total power, they would be no different from any other totalitarian thug. Is this the definition of unpatriotic? Sure. They stand for whatever works.
Linda will have to know that she lives in the hearts of all people who love justice. Is there a site where people can donate money for her?
Actually, ignorance of the law is a defense when the law specifically provides for such.
