Hi, dixiechick. My husband and I are seriously thinking about moving; not only is Portland too expensive, but the newspaper and both the city and county governments are becoming more and more out of touch. If I have to see The Oregonian do one more article on how Oregon Muslims are coping with 'prejudice' or on 'diversity' (I swear to God, there must be a 'diversity' key on their keyboards, like the letter 'E', it's overused to death there) I'm going to spew. One more thing, everyone: on the radio last week I heard a clip of Vera Katz complaining about all of the negative publicity that Portland has received. She added (she sounded on the verge of tears, I'm not kidding) "This never would have happened under the previous administration. They would have worked with us." Yeah, I bet they would have, Vera. Barf!

It won't work, we can never do it, they are too liberal............ Well, you can have that attitude and put up with it, or DO something and get our contry back! The more you voice your opinion, the more you will be heard, but doing nothing accomplishes NOTHING! Read the sequence of events on the articles below to see what activism can accomplish. And this is Madison! The Midwest's Berkley. The very same school board members who voted to ban the pledge are now worried they may not have a job! It works, but you have to make it work. No one is going to do it for you.

Your thoughts about Portland are the reasons why we didn't buy a condo in Portland after I retired in 1995. We really liked Portland in the early 1990's. We thought about buying a condo as a part time home in Portland. My oldest son who had lived in Hood River and Bend warned me about the left wingers, socialists and enviralists. He suggested that I subscribe to the Oregonian for at least 3 months.
It took less than 1 month of reading the left wing Oregonian to forever change our minds. Portland is heading the way of Seattle in a rapid way!
To all living in Portland or around it. Cancel your Oregonian subscription. Send half of your monthly savings to the Boy Scouts and the other half to Free Republic! Don't finance their left wing agenda/diversity/political correctness agendas!

Hi, Calico! I understand how you feel about moving. We lived in an unincorporated area of Portland for 7 years. We tried to find a lot outside the urban growth boundary that we liked, and didn't require us to grow crops or have cows, for 5 1/2 years. We built the house and moved in 1999. The area is still expensive, but living out in the country is so much easier on the blood pressure! And, it's even better since I quit reading
The Oregonian! Try the
Portland Tribune. It's free, but you do have to go to your local grocery store to pick it up.
"...Vera. Barf!"
That's how I feel about her, too! ;o)
