“[Walker’s Parents] tried to be nonjudgmental, even supportive, about his conversion. They were “proud of John for pursuing an alternative course,” says his father.

Now, where could they have gone wrong? Aren’t most teenagers capable of making mature, rational decisions on their own?

“Walker’s parents were splitting up. Frank went to live with a friend, Bill Jones”

Well, certainly, a bright, sensitive boy like John Walker who was given a good solid up bringing and strong mores by his loving parents could be depended on to make logical decisions, right?

“He became convinced that he needed to go to Yemen… His parents, though strapped for money because of their separation, agreed to pay for it”

Some kids go to summer camp to learn to swim and hike; some kids go to Yemen to prepare for a Jihad. You can’t say one is any better than another (unless you want to go against egalitarianism, a tenant of liberalism.)

“I don’t think John was doing anything wrong,”

Exactly, who are we to judge? What’s right and what’s wrong? The leftist mind isn’t able to comprehend such things and any attempt to is like the insane ramblings of the sighted man in the valley of the blind.

In October 2000, when suicide bombers blew a hole in the side of the USS Cole as the American destroyer was refueling in the Yemeni harbor of Aden, Frank Lindh e-mailed his son to lament that some of the 17 young sailors killed in the blast were the same age as his son. Walker wrote back that bringing the U.S. destroyer into a Yemeni harbor was “an act of war” against Islam. His son’s message “raised my concerns,” Frank told NEWSWEEK, “but my days of molding him were over.”

OMG! How about calling the CIA and advising them of what this slim bag just told you, Mr Step dad? I would. I wonder if he was involved in the planning of the USS Cole explostion?

“but my days of molding him were over.”

What molding?????
