[history]
Michael Hingson was on the 78th floor of what is now simply known as Tower One. Roselle was resting under his desk, as was her habit.
The hijacked jetliner exploded into the 96th floor. There was a loud thud from above. The building shook, then swayed. Then it felt as if it were going to tip over.

In memory of 9/11. One of many tragic stories to read about of those who escaped, and those who didn't know.

Some were badly burned, with skin hanging from their arms. It would be hard to expect a dog to handle all of the distractions -- the noises, the crowds, the awful smells.I think they meant "yummy" instead of "awful." ("yummy" to a DOG, not a person!)
There were other smells, like jet fuel, too...

Wonderful post - - my hubby thinks dogs are made in the image of God -- and dog is God spelled backwards!

Judith Regan did a wonderful interview with him about a month ago - but Roselle stole the show. He talked about Roselle a lot, but several times made the point that what saved them was the previous fire drills and the evacuation plan. He stressed that because he was blind, he was careful to learn the plan, the exits, etc., and that ultimately that helped save him.
Judith does some of the best interviews on TV. Her show with Bernard Kerlik (sp?) - the Police Commissioner - was excellent.

Looks like Michael Hingson also has a "Smart Blonde".

LOL - good one. I think it's a compliment to be in the same category as Roselle.

About a month or so ago, while watching FoxNews, E.D., Steve and Brian reported that dogs were set afire, with gasoline, by the Taliban and folks who were forced to watch and who did not applaud were shot. I could not bear it. And an American citizen decides to join with this bunch.

Aw, please. I'm glad I missed that. GWB and Cheney love dogs. Maybe we should suggest they try those dog killers in a military tribunal! Be fun to see PETA's reaction.

Now that's a GOOD dog!

Me too!!

I hate to be "insensitive" and less than "tolerant", but a blind guy on the 78th floor is not only putting himself at unnecessary risk, he is putting those who might try to save him if were trapped at considerable risk as well.
Plus, he was wasting the view.
