"The latest suicide bombing in Israel and continuing violence are 'destroying' Yasser Arafat's credibility and should lead Palestinians to seriously question where their leaders are trying to take them, U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said Sunday."Finally, some actual sense out of Powell. This is exactly the message we should have been sending the Palestinians all along: The enemy is not Israel or the U.S., but the vicious gangsters who call themselves the Palestinian "Authority." Israeli Arabs are prosperous and free; Palestinians are impoverished and oppressed, little better than Arafat's serfs.
I'm convinced that the (relative) peace in Northern Ireland has come about because both sides looked south, saw the astounding prosperity that's come to the Republic of Ireland and realized that they could have that too if they just stop killing their children. The Palestinian people aren't stupid or evil, they've just been lied to for over fifty yearsbut if we don't start trying to counteract Arafat's lies, we're going to be forced to treat the Palestinian people as if they were stupid and evil.

Having institutionalized terrorist leadership through the "peace process," what chance is there for any Palestinian of moderate views? To speak up is to be killed. In fact, going back to the 1930s, and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (who spent WWII in Berlin), the Palestinian leadership has routinely murdered any moderate. Today, polls show 80% of Palestinians favor suicide bombings. Either this is true, and a measure of just how depraved a whole people can be, or it reflects a fear of saying anything else. In any case, the peace process was always nothing but an exercise in self delusion, and in institutionalizing terror. Any hope for peace will only come with the physical elimination of all the present leadership, to include the PA and all its terrorist subsidiaries.

"It's not surprising given that level of violence and those repeated attacks that the Israelis take steps to defend themselves. They have a right to do so." Finally Powell comes around.

Cheney said that, "until Arafat demonstrates that he is serious about suicide attackers, there won't be progress. They are led by someone who can't control terrorists." Still not quite on. It's not that Arafat can't control the terrorists. Arafat is a terrorist. He simply uses Hamas to do the dirty work. Meanwhile his own PA television glorifies terror and teaches kids that being a suicide bomber should be their highest aspiration.

" Powell Calls On Palestinians To Question Their Leaders "
Good, MANY conservative voters have been questioning the qualifications of the Secretary of State in a Republican administration for some time.

I personally call upon all Islamics to question the Palestinians. Are they representatives of your "peaceful" faith? Do suicide bombers who kill innocents true Islamics or not?
It is a simple question, yet I cannot see the clerics of the Islamic faith to answer the question in a clear and definitive manner.
