FIERY conservative Ann Coulter, who lost her National Review Online column for incendiary remarks post-9/11, battled student protesters during a speech she gave at Columbia Tuesday night.

Coulter - who was fired by "girly-boy" editor Rich Lowry after she wrote of Islamic extremists, "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity" - gave a speech titled "Terrorism and Its Left-wing Sympathizers."

Was there, there were not 100 of them. 50 at most.

Didn't hear any chanting either, maybe the writer stayed later after Coulter left, but Coulter didn't hear any chanting.

One of the two people holding the sign described tried to interrupt Coulter with a meek "You're not welcome here". Maybe the lady said "Don't come back" as she left.

Don't know where the reporter gets the exaggerations here. Did they exaggerate it in a campus paper or something that the author read?

She left of her own choice while those that weren't there for the whole lecture were eager to debate her, but denied the opportunity as they hadn't listened to what she had to say. She wasn't booed offstage. The Columbia paper is engaging in yellow journalism, with a touch of red.

"Liberals are not just wrong, but completely, symphonically and perfectly wrong."

The most eloquent spokesperson for our times.

There were exactly two signs/placards in total held by protestors. One each of the two described.

The way the article describes it one might think all the protestors had signs but there was a grand total of two signs and placards combined in the room.

The probable supporter of hers that she harshly calls a dope here, sat in the seat in front of me.

"This is always how liberals argue," Coulter counters. "They make it impossible for a conservative speaker to speak and then say, 'Ha! she couldn't take the force of our logic!' "

Precisely! I think I'll convert Ann Coulter to Judaism and marry her ;)

You may not need to. FWIW, she writes for Jewish World Review. I don't know if she's jewish, but she might be . . . I have to admit she doesn't look jewish . . .

Nah, I think she is Christian. Specially after that comment of invading Afghanistan and concverting Taliban to Christianity.

I wonder how these protests would have fared if they were let's say -- anti-Taliban in last year's Afghanistan? They (the shouters) always want some authoritative form of government that doesn't work. Go figure.

Did you see that Harvard student on O'Reilly last night? Typical of a liberal college student. Empty brain starting to fill up with jibberish.

You simply have to admire her courage. Public speaking is incredibly stressful for 99% of us. Getting onstage to argue a point that others might disagree with is bane to almost any politician, despite the preponderance of Law degrees. Getting heckled by one audience member is a harsh experience for even the most talented comedians. Getting 'booed' by crowds is painful, even for athletes and former co-presidents. Getting rushed onstage while your supporters are out-numbered by a 20-1 ratio (at least!) must be terrifying (this happened at least once to Ms. Coulter). REPEATEDLY VOLUNTEERING for that kind of treatment, just to let a few dozen people hear some truth or at least an opposing viewpoint, makes her the bravest American speaker in decades...

either that, or she REALLY gets her jollies by making the Lefties howl. =^)

Go, Ann, go!

Er, I would bet a lot of my money that, say, O'Reilly, Clarence Page, Walter Williams Laura Ingrham, Michael Kelly and many others that are included in JWR are NOT Jewish; sorta like writers for the Christian Science Monitor over the years not needing to be Christian Scientists. Here's the list:

Mitch Albom Barbara Amiel Doug Bandow Fred Barnes Michael Barone Marc Berley Lori Borgman Linda Bowles Thomas J. Bray Paul Campos Mona Charen Linda Chavez Richard Chesnoff Ann Coulter Gayle A. Did you see that Harvard student on O'Reilly last night?

Poor little dear; her viewpoint was not espoused by the university president and so she came on O'Reilly Factor to declare her disappointment. The side shots of her after O'Reilly responded to her nonsense were priceless. She was left speechless at one point and O'Reilly had to make a second comment to fill the dead air. O'Reilly's last comment before going to a break: "Well, I've been disappointed many times in my life."
