The question really ought to be, can you be any less libertarian than this guy? Libertarianism (to me) seems less an ideology than a sentiment- to believe in freedom and to believe that you have a right to it. I, like most conservatives, consider that sentiment a central tenet of my belief system. I guess that I have always viewed myself as a classic conservative (in the American sense)-- I stand balancing three equally important strains of my ideology-libertarianism, religious traditionalism and free-market capitalism.
And, I can therefore say without reservation, Bill Maher is nothing short of wacko if he honestly believes he's a libertarian. The only libertaian belief he holds is his constant criticism of government authority (and even that's fake because it's not as though it's founded on a principle he's holding fast to; in fact it's not founded on anything other than his typical, adolescent, knee-jerk dislike of anything Republican- which is what this administration is.)!
But, I can solve Bill Maher's dilemma for him- of finding out what he is- HE'S AN A$$H*LE!!! (If you're listening Bill, I hope i've been of assistance to you). If not, I tried!
