SENATE PASSES HELMS AMENDMENT ON WORLD COURT

WASHINGTON (AP) The Senate voted overwhelmingly Friday to block U.S. participation in a new international criminal court that opponents fear could stage politically motivated trials of American troops and government officials.

The 78-21 vote added the language, introduced by Sen. Jesse Helms, R-N.C., to this year's defense spending bill.

The Helms provision's ultimate fate is unclear. The House version of the defense spending bill contains no such provision, but in May, the House voted 282-137 to include similar language in a separate bill authorizing State Department programs.

Dodd knows all about being a player.

Wasn't he Daniel Ortega's butt boy? Did his bidding in the Senate during the Reagan years?

I think the knot heads are pouting pitchforkers who represent 2% of the population and along with their vote, are insignificant sore losers

LOL good point. Even Gore knows the election is over.

Here's the vote on the Dodd Amendment. Perhaps a bit more telling as to where the Senators really stand.

Further Dodd and Kennedy were acting up in a restaurant when they were drunk and accosted a waitress. They got her between them and you can guess what they did. Supposedly Dodd reformed.....remarried and just had a little baby.

Richard Dicker, who directs the international justice program of Human Rights Watch, called the Senate vote "a low point in the U.S. Senate's commitment to strengthening international human rights."

Well, if Dick Dickhead doesn't want to dicker about it, I'm for it. On the other hand, if Dick Dicker wants to be a dickhead, there's not much we can do, as it seems to be his nature. The U.S. Senate has a commitment for strengthening American rights, not International Courts.

And each time the ICC and the UN have tried to inject themselves in our affairs this president has shot them down, unlike his daddy

I voted for Bush with an equally balanced load of hope and fear. His daddy's NWO had me scared to death and this filthy "court" and the rotten UN are part of that. OTOH I like the things the son said about guns and a lot of other things, not to mention that a Gore presidency was unthinkable. While some things keep the fear alive (certain of his appointments), several things have raised my level of hope. This is a huge weight on the positive side. Lighten up on the people who fear the NWO. WE are not your enemy, please don't make us into one.

Opponents such as Dodd retorted that if the United States does not join in establishing the court, "Our men and women in uniform will be subjected to terrible rules. You've got to be a player."

Screw that. The U.N. has no jurisdiction in U.S. operations and we should not lend relevence the U.N. and their attempts at totalitarianism.

Even Hitlery Clinton voted with Helms.
Maybe Hillary is worried about being extradited to a foreign land, either for crimes she has commited or or crimes she is planning to commit.

Speaking of which, When is Bill Clinton, Albright, and Cohen going to turn themselves in to serve their sentence for war crimes (per order by a Yugoslav court).
Don't want to keep international justice waiting, ya know.

Hillary will not deliever this country to the NWO until she's president. No election to president -- no delievery of U.S. to NWO. Now get me elected -- she says!

The usual suspects. I don't know much about Voinovich. Is he a scumbag RINO too?

It is apparent that Voinovich is more of a RINO than I had originally thought. I remember when he was mayor of Cleveland, OH. He did a great job of turning the city around, albiet with a pretty big tax increase. Since then, he's never met a tax he didn't like.

Even after tax cuts by the now-governer Taft, Ohio is above average in taxes among the states. Voinovich, as governer, holds primary responsibility for that.

I used to like George Voinovich, but I haven't been fond of him for a few years. His vote here explains why.

I must add, it was a freeper that urged me to take a better look at him a couple of years ago. That is when I realized what he was about. Its a shame; the guy that saved Cleveland apparently got a big head or something.
