Collecting $500M in charity and $20B from the Fedgov for the WTC, then spending the money on a sports stadium.
Encouraging everyone to go Christmas shopping to help the economy, then banning Santa Claus.

Alanis Morrisette's song "Is it Ironic" doesn't contain one example of irony in it....but a whole lot of similes and metaphors.

The new leaf blower I spent too much on completely sucks.

I was thinking the same thing...

So I leave you with that:
Was she just that dumb?
Or did she do that on purpose?
I am starting to believe that she did it on purpose....some producer somewhere had to say "Yo, Canadian Broad....you from the French Quarter? 'cause you sure don't know the English language too good."

Not allowing airline pilots access to firearms, because the pilot's gunfire
might bring the plane down while attempting to stop a hijacking,
And then sending up a jet fighter to shoot the airline down if a terrorist takes control of the plane.
Ironic, hypocritical, stupid, counterproductive
in other words, a completely predictable government response.

A "kiwi" is:
1) A fruit
2) A flightless bird
3) A brand of shoe polish
4) A native of New Zealand

19 folks get onto airplanes with simple everyday items no one have blinked at prior to 911.
Somehow airport security gets blamed for allowing this tradgedy to occur...so they push to federalize airport security.
They want this so next time, in thier typically federilized inept way, hijackers will get a real weapon, like a gun, on to the plane.
Then they can play the "let's blame an inanimate object for our troubles" game.

Maybe the thing that's ironic is that the song has no examples of irony, yet many people think it does!
To: francisandbeans
let me clear up my third sentence....this way...because of the ineptness of anything that is federalized....hijackers can get a real weapon, like a gun, on board the plane.

Putting people that can't deliver mail in charge of airline security. Putting a "suspected" killer on the "Homeland Securtity Committee" (condidit).

The new leaf blower I spent too much on completely sucks. How interesting. I bought one this year, too, and mine really blows.
Seriously, does yours kind of give out when the motor gets hot? I finally finished the job by hand.

On purpose I suppose you mean that the 'Irony of the song is that all the examples she gives have nothing to do with irony." Which in fact would be a dramatic irony of sorts...
No, just a dim Canuck.

Japanese cars sporting American flags, decals, etc.Seeing as how the Japanese amaended their constitution just so they could send ships to the Indian Ocean to help us, I see no irony here. Things have changed since 60 years ago, but that's to be both expected and hoped for.

The "leafblower" really cracks me up

The saddest irony of all: Taking the Christ out of Christmas. (x-mas)

Seriously, does yours kind of give out when the motor gets hot? I finally finished the job by hand. Sounds like your leaf blower and my wife have a lot in common.
Thank you
I'll be here all week, folks.
