So, did anyone watch this last night?
My review:
I thought the movie itself, The Day Reagan Was Shot, was a bit over the top. Maybe Gen. Al Haig really was a frothing lunatic, I don't know, but that's how Richard Dreyfuss portrayed him. George H.W. Bush and Reagan were portrayed as amiable dunces, in my opinion (Reagan only slightly less so). Deaver, Meese, Baker and Nancy Reagan received some respect. The hero was the ultra-liberal doctor who saved Reagan's life despite political differences.
The documentary preceeding concluded Reagan felt he had been spared for a purpose and he accomplished that purpose when the Cold War ended. They showed the great "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" footage, which brought a tear to my eye. I didn't find anything about the Bradys to be touching. They sat there on camera and argued. The narrator reminded us about ten times that Brady now is a gun control proponent.

All I saw was a promo last night showing a scene with Richard Dreyfuss as Alexander Haig (!), and the gag reflex kicked in. Sickening.

I watched the documentary, larded as it was with commentary by Chris Matthews. It was a dismissal of Reagan's accomplishments, or an attempt at a dismissal. Reagan did a lot of good, and his character overcame his politicking some times. I don't regret having voted for him twice, but he was the last monopoly party presidential candidate I've voted for.
The ivy league poseur who followed him was a disgrace.

I watched the movie last night, I didn't think it was that bad. Made Reagan look OK, best light shown on Nancy Baker Deaver, and Meese.
Although Dreyfus overacted (think Captain Kirk), he made you think Haig wasn't a wacko, just somebody who was confused a bit, but still was a good soilder.
It mostly was about how the US was not prepared to handle the situation and nothing was working.
I'll admit, I had very low expectations given who was in it, but they handled it better than I expetected.
