Berry recounted how President Reagan fired her in 1983 and how she fought through the courts to get back on the board. Now we see why she was fired! And sure, we see how the new appointee would damage the independance of the commission - there would be less of a DemocRAT majority....

It's now official: RATs are not embarrassed by anything. Like terrorists, power is the only thing they understand and respect. Our very own Taliban.

The commission can only be disbanded by an act of Congress. Maybe, but Congress always controls the purse strings. Just defund the stupid thing. Let the 'Rats scream. When they do, throw it back in their ugly faces. Berry is the one who is trying to play hardball. Fine. Two can play it that way. Just cut off their money, and let them raise their own funds.

Why didn't the other three 'pubs walk out and refuse to participate in any votes/meetings with the ex-member still in the chamber? Why, then she would have just seized control of the entire government without a dissenting vote.
To: Howlin
It was meant as a joke, based on the comment that Berry was going to totally ignore the laws and plow ahead, ala the Florida Supreme Court.

Barr's the perfect guy. Imagine her rage at being charged by a white, southern, straight male. And former federal prosecutor, to boot! Sweet.

"Democratic Reps. John Conyers of Michigan and Jerrold Nadler of New York wrote Berry on Thursday ..."I shoulda known 'Jabba the Hut' would be involved somehow!

While Congress controls the purse strings, and while Congress can abolish the commission, one house of Congress is controlled by the Democrats.
And that is why that option is closed off.

Because there is only one other Republican on the board.

We could have done that to the congressional black caucus, NPR, Corp for Public Broadcasting, National endowment for the arts, etc, etc, etc, but in the end the Pubbies were more interested in being liked than in doing the right thing. They're scared to death of the press, Letterman and Leno, talking heads, and all the rest. RATs know how to intimidate Pubbies. Here's a crack-ho Marion Berry separated-at-birth-lookalike giving the finger to the most powerful man on earth, and who's doing anything about it?

Let's see here... Six evil ones, and two members - yet, all of a sudden Bush is the one trying to stack the deck or muzzle members??? Be-atch went to court against Reagan to keep the deck stacked and conservatives muzzled, yet they are the ones that can cry foul and sound so self-righteous and wronged. Wish that war on terrorism had begun at home!

For all of you who can hear The Sean Hannity Radio I will be on the show at 4pm est with a full report on this matter.

Fine. Let the House take out their funding. The Senate can try to put it back in. If the 'Pubs have any brass ones, they can filibuster the lousy thing. If the 'Rats prevail and it goes back in, it goes to conference. See what happens in conference. If it stays in, let Bush veto the damn thing. Then have an override vote. I don't think the votes are there to override a veto over something like this.

If they had the votes to cut off funding, they'd have the votes to disband it.

Well, now I have exposed myself. I'm willing to believe ANYTHING that the Democrats might do, even if it might not be true!........LOL.

How many commissioners do they need present to have a quorum? What if enough stopped attending meetings in protest so no business could go forward?

How many commissioners do they need present to have a quorum?5. That's why this is a critical appointment. Bush will get another appointee in December. That will put the commission at 4-4 (where it's supposed to be). Berry will lose her quroum which should put the brakes on some of her more egregious stunts.

It's time to defund this commission.
End it, don't mend it.
