I have to continually log in, log in, log in if I want to do a self-search. I have not changed anything in my puter or FR preferences. This self-search log in crap occurred during the last software updates by JR.

It does show my own replies on my self-search, but those tend to get boring the 2nd time around. ;-)

Instead of logging in over and over again, just save the screen as a Favorite when you're on the Self-search page. This way, you can just click on it once when you first go on FR.

I have a similar malady --- when I self-search I get someone else's search page (Coop).
I haven't complained because when I hit "reload" my page comes up and everything works normally.
John, could it have something to do with the double "o" in my screen name which we both share?

Please check your bookmark or link that you are using to come to Free Republic. If it is missing the "www." it may cause this problem with some browsers. With some browsers, the cookies get saved on your computer only if you are using our complete domain address.
Set it up so you save the full URL in your bookmark, i.e.,
http://www.freerepublic.com
And or that you are using our full URL when logging in:
http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/login
The above solved the problem for some (but not all) who were having similar difficulties with cookies.
Other cookie problems can be:
- Your local time and date on your system set incorrectly
- Cookie blocking software running; (there may be settings or preferences to allow certain sites to send cookies)
- Ad blocking software
- Firewall software running
- Corrupt cookie in your cookie file or corrupt cookie file (try logging off to delete or manually deleting any existing freerepublic.com cookies or corrupt cookie files)
- Something screwed up in local cache or DNS table (try clearing disk and memory cache, shutdown, power off, and restart; this will clear cahce and reset tables), etc.
