SARAJEVO, Dec 3, 2001 -- (dpa) No radioactive material was found in central Bosnia-Herzegovina's region of Kiseljak, the NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR) said Friday, contradicting earlier reports that said Italian peacekeeping troops found parts needed to make nuclear weapons.
SFOR spokesman Captain Daryl Morrell confirmed only that SFOR was involved in an operation supporting the local police in Kiseljak, 20 kilometers north of the capital Sarajevo.
Since the operation is still continuing, Morrell refused to comment on its nature.
Meanwhile, local police detained three persons after discovering in their houses suspicious materials believed to be used to produce explosive devices. Morrell confirmed the arrests, but stressed that they were carried out by local police.
According to an unofficial source close to local police, several plastic bags with a "strange" content were found in the house during the joint SFOR-police investigation.
Even though initial information indicated that the discovered parts could be used in the production of nuclear weapons, the source backed the SFOR statement, saying no such parts were discovered.

It's quite interesting you refer to British author Simon Winchester's "Professor and the Madman" in this context. I don't know how well forum members can search out Canadian newsmagazines, but those diligent enough to do so may find insight that refutes the Humanitarian Warrior's claims about fictional sources and such...
If you can find the August 21, 2000 issue of Maclean's magazine you will see an article about Canadian Shaun Going, who was arrested by the Yugoslav apparat in Montenegro the first week of August last year.
Both author Winchester and Mr D are quoted in the article. This is interesting in another sense because it lends credence to certain speculation about an event in Winchester's next book "The Fracture Zone."
During the Kosovo War, Winchester stops over in Tirana before joining General Jackson in Macedonia. On pp 174-75 he describes a dinner at the Black Rooster where he, his assistant, the aforementioned Mr Going, and "an American named ****, who came from North Carolina" got together.
Since Winchester has been associated with MI-6 long before his heroics in the Falklands and Buenos Aires in 1982, Mr Going is rather well connected, and Mr D is, well ... Mr D -- it would have certainly been interesting no doubt to be privy to that conversation only hours before the Brits went in to Kosovo...

I certainly wouldn't form my opinion about Albanians based on Fusion's ramblings. I rather prefer to meet people and then form my opinion of them, and I know Albanians are like anybody else. Being of Serb origin doesn't make me wish ill to Muslims (if it is that what you implied). I actually got quite bruised on several threads for being against bombing of Afganistan and Iraq.
