If you believe the bible is a collection of myths and fables, how do you know anything about God? If you believe the bible is a book of myths, then you either believe God had nothing to do with it, or you believe that God is a liar.

I don't believe the Bible is a collection of myths and fables. You misread me (again) I believe the creation story is a myth. Not an untrue story, but an attempt to make sense of the world around them. You do understand there is more than one definition of the word myth, right?

Which is it?

Once again, I believe the Bible is a collection of books, written by different people, at different times, all divinely inspired by God.

Well then, what do you believe about these "myths"? If they are inspired of God, what precisely is their purpose? To give a basic framing of the creation of the universe? Do you accept a belief that there was a six day act of creation, and that there was an Adam and Eve that sinned? Granted, I would agree that the creaion story is sparse on details, as is most of the first portion of Genesis (I do not believe myself that the genealogies are to be taken as complete-see, I'm not quite as rigid as I sound!), but this doesn't give me cause to discount the whole thing as merely symbolic. If nothing else, I owuld say that the parts Jesus alluded to must be taken as pure truth, and not symbolism-wouldn't you?

BTW, what is your idea for the age of the earth?

Oh, I see, we only get to split the hairs you want to split?

Listen, just because something is literally true doesn't mean it contains every last piece of information pertaining to the subject. That doesn't make it a myth.

And looking down your nose at hundreds of years of Jewish history doesn't make you smart. The fact that these people didn't have televisions and automobiles doesn't make them stupid.

Besides all that, you are just manufacturing this stuff out of whole cloth. I could write a treatise on interstellar propulsion, it wouldn't mean anything, but I could write it.

You are spouting nonsense because it impresses you, and can't understand why so many people think you are an arrogant jerk. All you are doing is fantasizing. You have zero basis for believing anything you say beyond the fact that you want to believe it.
