Attack on Iraq 'Off the Table,' Officials Furious at Defense Dept.
Source Close to Dr. Paul Wolfowitz-Deputy Secretary of Defense ^ | December 5, 2001 | Freeper Trixie's co-workers

An impeccable, hall of fame Washington Insider close to the State Department has said that they are furious that an attack on Iraq was 'put off the table.'

The source said that there was not enough unimpeachable evidence to make the war stick with the coalition and that the next target may be Indonesia.

Wolfowitz walked out of the decision meeting absolutely furious, which is interesting becuase it is usually the State Department who have been the 'doves' on this issue recently, but in the last few weeks Colin Powell has drastically changed his position to go after Iraq policy wise in the meetings.

Title should be 'Officials Furious at Defense Dept', not state.

It's going to happen as sure as the sun rises, and not a moment too soon.

This story sounds like it was sourced from Debka or Look Ahead news. Everything about it makes no sense.

Not Deb-kaka, trust me this is air tight.

If Jesse Helms is pissed that Colin Powell is telling Turkey we won't need their troops to invade, you know the hawks are pissed.

The essence of this report is echoed in Richard Hoagland's article in the Friday, Washington Post. Disinformation? Perhaps. Hoagland says the next targets are Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen (if I recall correctly). Also, he said Iraq is "not off the table" but still under review.

You lost ME right there. Total BS.

And I certainly hope you're not referring to Lucianne as a credible source.

Now that you're talking about the Defense Dept. instead State, your story makes sense. Could be we'll have a temporary delay while we let Israel straighten out the Hamas problem. Going after the Palis and Iraq simultaneously would almost guarantee an uprising by all the Arab & Muslim states.

Personally, I almost think we should straighten out the problems in Egypt and Saudi before we go after Iraq anyway. Or we could always straighten out Yemen or the Sudan to gain some dependable sources of oil before we deal wih Egypt and Saudi...

It has been reported all along that the next target will be Yemen, Sudan and Somalia. What's new about not attacking Hussein now that the UN is involved? He's the "Peck's Bad Boy" of the UN. Go figure.
