No--potassium iodide ONLY protects against radioactive iodine--no other isotope. The mechanism of protection is that the non-radioactive iodine prevents the radioactive iodine from being grabbed by the thyroid gland and turned into iodine containing biochemicals.
If you are worried about other isotopes, buy a Geiger counter and a good (HEPA) air filtering unit.
