Yeah, that's the way to bring up kids - everything is shades of gray. Sounds like the way the progressive Californian "parents" raised little Johnny Walker - and he grew into a fine young Taliban warrior.
From what I have read, his mother did seem to raise him without the "benefit" of a strict, black/white doctrine.
It also seems that young johnny found it on his own.
Perhaps just another case of "teenage rebellion"?
