Hi dutchess! Your dog contests are so fun! I'd post my pictures, but I'm not set up for that. The last time you did this, we only had one dog.

This is Deja ...

Now, I will tell you about newest member in our family. My mom wanted a dog. My dad was against it. My dad is the biggest dog lover ever but just didn't want to take on the responsibility. Well, my mom's birthday was August 3rd and I told her, all her life she has given everything to the family, and it was her turn to get something she really wanted...a dog. I asked her what she wanted and she said, a smaller female dog with short hair, and a puppy. Not to hard, right?

I started searching the internet for dogs. I thought a Jack Russel might be perfect for them. After searching, I really didn't want to spend $400 for a dog and drive 500 miles to pick it up. So, my middle daughter and I decided to check out the local humane society. Why not?

The humaine society is about 20 miles from here. When we got there, I told the woman who worked there what we were looking for, but alas, no small, short hair, female puppy. Since we were there, we decided to check out the dogs anyway. OOPS. Back in the last kennel there she was.

Meet Vickie........

She is a pure bread show dog that was dropped off. She's 8 years old and the owners did not want her anymore. Poor thing. Well, since we understand the breed, I was seriously considering taking her home. The women suggested we bring our dog to the humane society and be introduced to each other. We did and Vickie has been happy ever since!

I did find my mom not one, but 2 female, short hair, beagle-terrier mix, eight month old puppies, and my mom and dad are the proud parents of Daisy and Maisy! And, you guessed it, my dad LOVES them!

Awe, what a wonderful story. I was the treasurer of our local humane society for many years. Volunteered lots of time but avoided visiting the shelter because I always would come home with another stray which didn't thrill "our loved ones!" OR Hubby. The bed gets aweful crowded with more than three! LOL. I'll throw in another $10 on behalf of yours and your parents babies!!!! Come on freepers, I'm feeling pretty generous right now!!!

Shepards are great dogs (always hungry, though).
