"Here Was A Man"
(To be spoken--Johnny Cash-like--over a lonely keyboard version of "Joy to the World")
"Here was a man...a man who was born in a small village, the son of a peasant woman. He grew up in another small village. Until He reached the age of thirty, He worked as a carpenter; then, for three years, He was a travelling minister. But He never travelled more than two hundred miles from where He was born, and where He did go, He usually walked. He never held political office, He never wrote a book, He never bought a home, He never had a family, He never went to college, and He never set foot inside a big city, yet...here was a man.
Here was a man...though He never did one of those things that you usually associate with greatness, He had no credentials but Himself. He had nothing to do with this World, except through the Divine Purpose that brought Him to this World.
While He was still a young man, the Tide of Popular Opinion turned against Him. Most of His FRiends ran away...one of them denied Him, one of them betrayed Him and turned Him over to his Enemies. Then, He went through the mockery of a Trial and was nailed to a Roman Cross between two thieves. And even while He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had in this World, and that was His robe, His Purple Robe. When He was dead, He was taken down from the cross and laid in a borrowed grave, provided by a compassionate FRiend.
More than Nineteen Centuries have come and gone, and today He's the Centerpiece of the Human Race, Our Leader, and the Column to Human Destiny. And I think I'm well within the mark when I say that All of the Armies that Ever Marched, All of the Navies that Ever Sailed, All of the Legislative Bodies that Ever Sat, and All of the Kings that Ever Reigned...All of Them Put Together have not affected the Life of Man on this Earth so Powerfully as that One Solitary Life...
Here was a man."
You forgot washboards fer whackin' and moonshine jugs fer blowin' in...we're an eclectic band, for the longest time, it was just a bunch of dudes with guitars and me on my harp...now that we've got keyboards and drums, sky's the limit!!

"A Soldier's Christmas"
The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
my daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree, I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep
in perfect contentment, or so it would seem.
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.
The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eye when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
and I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!"
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts,
to the window that danced with a warm fire's light
then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night"
"Its my duty to stand at the front of the line,
that separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December,"
then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red white and blue... an American flag.
"I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home,
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat,
I can carry the weight of killing another
or lay down my life with my sisters and brothers
who stand at the front against any and all,
to insure for all time that this flag will not fall."
"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."
Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone.
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
to know you remember we fought and we bled
is payment enough, and with that we will trust.
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.

Three Cheers for Dan Burton !!!!!! ONE of the few NOT afraid to speak up .......and for all of you and me too that will NOT let Clinton keep getting away with his TREASON!!!!!!!
I saw old DNC Chairman Terrance on Fox last night.... he makes me sick !!!!!!!
Ain't that where Archie Manning's youngest is going? And where's all this money comin' from? I thought Mississippi was all dirt-poor!!
Yes, Eli is the QB for the Rebels. My son just graduated from Ole Miss; so that is why Mississippi has gotten wealthier. Transfer of payments from Virginia, so to speak. You will understand when your young'uns head off to college.
And why is Clemson at 6-5 in a Bowl and Ole Miss at 7-4 is NOT?? Proves SEC is so much stronger than other conferences and must suffer by having some of their teams sit out the Bowl Season.
But look out for Eli and the Rebs the next two years!
"...on the 27th, Free Republic will be down..."

Yep...Burton, Barr, and a few others will lead the Congressional Contingent fer the Jihad fer Justice '02!! I seriously predict that November '02 will be all about Liberty, Justice, and the American Way...in other words, Dubyuh/Rush and the Forces of Good versus Slick Willie/T-Mac and the Forces of Evil!! And the Good Guys Shall Win in a ROUT!! (MUD and the Centaurs will provide the Sound Track...heh heh heh!!)
"...and for all of you and me too that will NOT let Clinton keep getting away with his TREASON!!!!!!!"
While you deserve the self-plaudits, mi hermana, we haven't accomplished our goal until Slick's met his Cell-Butty, Dwight.
"I saw old DNC Chairman Terrance on Fox last night.... he makes me sick !!!!"

"Joy To the World"
Joy to the world! The Left is Dead!!
Left just don't know it yet!!
Let all good folks aid in the Lib'rals' Doom...
Help Heaven and nature sing.
Joy to the earth! the Saviour reigns:
Let men their songs employ,
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy.
No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Networks infest our Minds:
He comes to make his blessings flow
Far out, Left's Curse is found.
Right rules the earth with Truth and Grace,
And makes all Nations prove...
The Glories of his Righteousness
And wonders of Right's Love.
Work in progress...MUD
...Merry Xmas to you too, kiddo. :^)
