I heard from Cassius Clinton (formerly Mr. X) that Santa did indeed light the tree...or one of the many Santas there did, anyhow, come to think of it.

I was standing six feet away from the Santa and the Mayor at that time. I could almost swear that Santa did NOT flip the switch, though I could not see both of his hands at the very end of the final countdown. Regardless, the fact that he occupied a place right next to the Mayor on the podium represents a huge victory for our side and "the children"!!!
