CBS NEWS VETERAN CALLED 'TRAITOR'; WRITES BOOK EXPOSING ELITE BIAS **World Exclusive** In the first defection of its kind, a 28-year veteran of CBS NEWS has written a tell-all book which names names and exposes elite media bias and slated coverage of events. The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained the first copy of BIAS, A CBS INSIDER EXPOSES HOW THE MEDIA DISTORT THE NEWS -- an explosive new work by CBS NEWS veteran Bernard Goldberg. The book set for release in January, presents an unprecedented blueprint of media bias as documented by an insider. "Bernie Goldberg is a G-ddamn traitor," a CBS NEWS executive said late Friday. "The book is trash written by a bitter man who is now determined to settle a score." Writing that he's never voted for a Republican for elected office, Goldberg exposes the bias he witnessed first hand during the nearly three decades he spent at the network. Goldberg zeros in on CBS NEWS anchor Dan Rather and current CBS NEWS President Andrew Heyward, who is quoted as saying: "Look Bernie, of course there's a liberal bias in the news. All the networks tilt left." MORE
As to the FCC, they appear to operate under the commerce clause, that's why you see the pirate stations raising such a fuss if they are careful to design and aim their antennas to not cross state lines, and then still get harassed by the FCC. Of course, some folks in the past I have read have tried to beat the full auto regulations by designing and manufacturing and distributing completely intrastate, the feds don't allow that to happen, either. Laws are written for the people, not the law administrators.
It's September 11th, 2001. The day Liberalism Died.
The day of the new birth of Patriotism....a foreign concept to Liberals.
. . . usually fictive entertainment . . .
"Fictive"
1)capable of, or pertaining to imaginative creation.A good word to know, and certainly not irrelevant. But I am more interested in the perspective which inheres in the choice of what to report and what to leave unsaid.
2) imaginary, feigned.
Are you interested only in what is unusual and dramatic? Then the millions of people who did not lose or gain jobs, the scores of millions of people who went to church on Sunday as usual--that is, most of society, most of the time--are invisible to you.
And that is, IMHO, a substantial explanation for the leftishness of journalism. And that is exerbated by deadline-driven superficiality.

Drudge didn't like some FR posters badmouthing him; if I remember correctly, JimRob doesn't like FR posters doing it either. Drudge has more than paid his dues; without him, we may still be in the dark about many of the Clinton wrongdoings. If people would stop being critical of him, he may link again, who knows?
Both papers then named (names provided, of course, by SPLC) 'right-wing nutso groups' within their respective States. In Wisconsin, they included the John Birch Society and the Constitution Party (Howie Phillips' local affiliate.)
No disclaimers, no qualifications, these folks are just "right-wing extremists."
Multiple emails (mine were polite, anyway) to the authorette of the Milwaukee piece went unanswered.
Balanced, fair, and careful.
Yup.
Agree. . .will do my share to help this get to No.1.
Will he make it even to Larry King?
You're right...there is a reason why I should spend my money on the book. Now I know. Thank you.
A journalist can be Republican or Democrat or anything else, but reporting the news has to be separated from distorting it. It's sickening to hear every story interpreted rather than simply reported.
And if God be for us, who can be against us? If we be for God, NO ONE!
This man has my thanks for breaking from the pack of jackals, and standing for truth and what's right. Better late than never.
Good idea. I'll do that too.
But that would be moot if SCOTUS would rule that the First Amendment gives us all--subject only to the variability in our wallets--equal rights to publish our ideas and beliefs. In that view, the FCC license is an unconstitutional promotion of the ideas and beliefs of certain individuals. De facto, the beliefs and attitudes of journalists are promoted, certainly. And that is only benign if the First Amendment is a non sequetur--if, that is, we can trust a secular priesthood of journalists to grant us revealed truth.
Fabulous idea!! Are ya out there lurking, John?
I heard Bob Schieffer interviewed on the radio recently. They were discussing the Johnson tapes, on which Johnson reveals that he KNEW he was sending America's men to die in a war he was not willing to prosecute to victory. Schieffer said "Every time I hear the Johnson tapes I feel more sympathy for him. Every time I hear the Nixon tapes I" (opposite feeling). Then Schieffer said, "I don't mean that in a partisan way." In what way did you mean it, Bob?
