Nope, Frodo didn't fail. He got the Ring to the cracks of doom and then Gollum's greed carried it to destruction. One of the themes of the books is that an overseeing divine intent is working over and above the conscious intent of the characters. Even if Frodo's intentions were corrupted at the end, the Ring would have been lost to the Enemy if he had not faithfully carried out his quest till that point.

"No infrared isn't. I use the Predator style infrared. Think of that movie. It's based on heat. You can detect heat patterns even when something's invisible."

Bah, in your RPG an invisibility ring had better come with an Orca-Cola and a side of elven fries so the player who gets one feels they got something out of the deal ....

No, I also say that infravision is not on 100% of the time. You have to turn it on, otherwise I assume you're not using it.

I think ArGee would probably agree with you on that [the filmmakers didn't know what to make of Bombadil]...

I won't try to guess what the average movie goer could or could not understand, but I will say that I read the trilogy four times before I came to see Tom and Goldberry the way I have described them here. Whether I'm average or not, it definately stretched my brain cells.

Shalom.

When I say "average movie-goer", I should qualify that by adding "who has not read LOTR". From what I've seen, the intelligence of the viewing audience is underestimated.
