Just a question, but if that blood in the cord is so valuable, wouldn't it make sense to let it continue to pulse into the baby after birth (what many midwives and natural birth advocates do)??

Think about it -- nobody knows for sure what all is in it! What if we would all be healthier had this been allowed at birth?

There's blood in it. As it turns out it cycles through the at aproximately 120 times a minute. I wouldn't suppose that 1/120 of a second of blood is any more important that the preceding 1/120 of a second the next 1/120 of a second. Do you?

"Cord blood" is babies blood. It is no different. And it's not collected from the cord, from which, at most, a few cc are collected but from the placenta.
