Which, as you know, don't function in isolation. In their effects on cell adhesion at one end and upregulated expression of nuclear genes on the other, invasive and metastatic potential are changed.
I wonder what it is, then, in primary tumors, such as Lewis cell carcinoma, that inhibits metastasized cells from developing into tumors until the primary tumor is removed.

Simply having a greater quantity of cord blood won't make any difference. To be sure, cord blood yields a number of different kinds of stem cells, some at greater concentration than others.

In case anyone is interested, I have the links to several cord blood banking services, as well as the web link to find out more on cord blood donation. It is free to donate, but you may be required to take an HIV test, which they won't cover the costs for. Your insurance should, however. Here are the links:
An article written by USA Today magazine on Cord Blood Banking Viacord, a blood bank. They have free information packets that you can get from their website Newborn Blood Banking, another company that banks blood. Their fees are a LOT less than what is quoted in the article CryoCell, another one with fees much less than the article states CORD, another banking center
There are quite a few other centers you can bank at. Type in "umbilical cord blood banking" at Google and there are quite a few that come up. Some of these banking facilities also advertise in magazines like BabyTalk, Parenting, and Child. There are a lot of other ones I've seen them in, but I don't remember the names. These banks look like they all have FAQ or Questions and Answers pages on them to answer commonly asked questions about banking, and all look like they have prices as well. Many of the baby and parenting magazines have run articles on this subject, but for some reason the main-stream media doesn't want to pick it up. I wonder why...? Maybe they wouldn't get quite as much funding from their pro-baby murdering advertisers? Because after all, if you don't need to kill innocent developing children to save lives, then that takes just one more argument away from slaughtering the unborn, right?

This is great news and I am dismayed that it took 3 years for the media to pick up on it.
It bothers me tho that such a life saving method, should have such high costs associated with saving those lives. But them maybe it really isn't that costly which is why it isn't being talked about more.
