Because he's so rabid,I feel it makes him ineffective as a politician.Im a staunch conservative,but I thought Newt was a little too rabid.And as time went on,he became a less credible political leader.While Leahy might be in with DEMs now,if he continues this anti Bush anti Republican stance,at a time when the nation is firmly in Bushes corner,he will lose credibility in his own party.Then I believe he will be a loose cannon in charge of the JC.He will make desicions based on personal feelings,than for the good of the people.The difference here is Newt resigned before he got canned.

Loved Newtie, his personal life did him in politically, at least he had the class to resign instead pulling a Clinton.
I wish we had someone left in Congress that could be as succinct, witty as Newt with his big picture mentality.
