The Hun is at the Gate
By Ann Coulter |
Various congressmen are trying to haul Attorney General Ashcroft before them to answer questions about military tribunals for suspected terrorists. In fact, the Supreme Court has already found that even U.S. citizens can be tried by military tribunals. When Ashcroft is forced to waste his time in Senate hearings this week instead of protecting the nation from more terrorist attacks, he should remind them that there's no exemption for senators either. continue |
Well, there's a good deal of truth in that. Our weapons are far superior to theirs. But the situations are completely different. We are in there to drive out a gang of unpopular foreigners who insinuated themselves into the country and then took over. The Russians were there (as the USSR) to take over the country for themselves. If we get in, do the job, and get out, the locals are glad to help us. That wasn't true for Russia.
Besides which, why rub it in? Everyone can see that it's the second time that our weapons clobbered theirs, as they did in the Gulf War. Maybe the Iraqis were incompetent, but I think their Russian-supplied weapons were inferior as well.
Bush must act!!!
Bush must act!!!
you only need to remember Schumer's roll during events immediately after Sept.11 when he personally blocked the way of firefighters during the opening of the stock market..
He was joined in that charade by the ever evil Hillary, another Marxist Liberal Leftist loser,
Needless to say they were shameless in that exhibition and during subsequent events when they Elbowed the true Heroes out of the way to put their ugly faces front and center.
Nasty must be in their genes.
Since the press will never concede that the left is morally bankrupt and that the right, the far right in the press's eyes, remains the only voice of liberty in the Congress, the press and the Democrats can use this show to prove what staunch defenders of civil liberties they (still) are.
TEXAS, STATE POPULATION - 20,044,141, SQ. MILES -261,914
SENATORS ALLOWED FROM EACH STATE - 2
ENOUGH SAID!
Spades are spades - "In the corporeal world, international law is whatever the United States and Great Britain say it is." That is the sort of line that makes Ms. Coulter a treasure.
Only slip - "what a bunch of paper tigers the Russians are. What were they doing over there for 10 years?" Omits the most relevant point - in politics, an evil and oppressive cause is in no way comparable to a just one. We dropped food; the Russians dropped land mines disguised as toys. We bombed the front lines and precise military targets; they flattened whole villages and salted the wells. The Afghans rose against the Taliban's "virtue police" to be free to listen to the radio; they also rose against the Russian's communist lackies to be free to pray.
For those who hadn't noticed the Kipling reference in the article title, see "For all we have and are", 1914. It is one of the best patriotic poems of all time. Just thinking of that next to today's whining left shows how shallow they are.
This is the man who should be answering questions about his conduct. He is now obstructing the war on Terrorism with his petty attempt to show how important he is. Make no mistake about it he is conducting his own tribunal.
contact the senator and tell him to back off and let John Ashcroft to his work. He managed to let Reno run roughshod over the country for eight years.
senator_leahy@leahy.senate.gov
or call: president@whitehouse.gov
and let the President know how you feel.
Seriously, I am pretty agitated That President Bush not done more to take on both Leahy and Dashole, to get his strong opposing viewpoint to them out in the media. How can we send a message he might actually receive and heed, letting him know that now is the time to act?
Military tribunals, for the stated purpose of prosecuting terrorists as a means of getting around civil due process will not be tolerated by many Americans, legality be dammned. Someone will die before I will ever submit to such an act.
