No kidding? Will Geraldo be looking for it?
No kidding? Will Geraldo be looking for it?
Please tell me those guys are NOT from my beloved hometown!
I think people should pay by the word to off-set expenses at freerepublic. That way, perhaps only meaningful articles and replies would be posted and it would not be necessary to wade through all the garbage posted to this site to get to some insight that may be helpful.
Although there are apparently a lot of members, as cited by Robinson, I'll bet that 5% of the membership post 75% to 80% of articles and replies. There are some members that post 40-50 replies each day! What about a maximum number of posts?
That's the problem with this site, no standards, and no free speech. I can see why people get upset.
Isaiah, please join Jethro Tull in sand-pounding. You don't even know what you are talking about.
This whole thing is a sad, sordid affair where people's ego's, their pride, their own agendas and quite a bit of vitriol are all coming together to create a bad situation.
For what it is worth, though Jim and I have not agreed on all matters and I have experienced my share of "banning" and "penatly boxes" through what I too felt were misunderstandings and inaccurate information (and most of the people who were the source of that misnformnation have sense fallin on their own swords WRT FR) ... I believe FR is an extremely good thing and I have worked to insure that it doesn't get me down or tempt me to start infighting.
FR, despite all else, is a modern Town Square and unfiltered source for information and discussion for anyone willing to look for it.
In that regard, I believe that JR is honestly trying his best to fight the enemies that are lined up against our Constitutional Republic and the liberties it is supposed to protect, and he has my support in that fight all the way, irrespective of whether Jim sees it "my way" or not.
I believe that a lot of people who, for whatever reason, become disaffected and antagonistic towards FR and Jim, end up walking and talking right past the points I just made and then take off in a huff on their own agenda trying to force JR and FR to pursue things in the manner they feel best.
Well, Jim states pretty up front that the site is his personal property, what his goals are, that it is run by donations and that people are free to donate or not. So, from my perspective folks should either accept his ground rules, however they may disagree with them, or feel them misapplied ... or start their own thing to compliment the fight. What is happening with these types of dog fights is dampening and destroying the overall fight for our liberties and works against us all IMHO.
Oh well, now I went and got on my own soap box and said a lot more on this thread than I ever wanted to anyhow.
I don't blame you for leaving.
A true conservative would never hit the abuse button under the assumption that management failed to act on a perceived posting violation.
No, they'd either challenge the poster in the public arena of ideas or silently slip into the night.
I find it interesting that Pubbies claim to desire free market competition, but when political competition is presented, they become the ultimate protectionists.
Sad stuff...
PS: I gave Dubya an A + for his wartime leadership.
"That's the problem with this site. . . . no free speech."
So paying by the word is your definition of "free" speech?
