...or do you just not believe in the concept of "Freedom of Religion"?
To: slhill
But personally, I don't think nudity with children is a problem per se; context is vital.
We seem to be on the same sheet of music here. Who's going to deny a parent the joy of bathing with his infant, for example (absent any concrete evidence of abuse, of course)?
Speaking of evidence, does anyone know whether the allegations of illegal activity (pedophilia, drug abuse, etc.) have been substantiated?
To: All-American Medic
No one is asking you to support or endorse them, what we are asking you to do is allow them the constitutional right of free assembly. You dont have to support these wiccans, but what you should do is support their right to worship as they see fit, as long as they are not breaking the law. It is not illegal to be gay, but I won't defend someone's right to do it. It is not illegal to celebrate a black mass and drink pig blood but I still won't stand by someone to defend his right to do it. Ditto for Dancing naked under the moon around a May Pole with your children and fellow pagans. I won't won't support any punishment for it but I won't defend it in anyway and if someone is inconvenienced, a very little, I will look the other way.

I don't look for support from the government in Christianity.
Nor should you, nor should the government be compelled to aid you in the practice of your religion in any way. But neither should the government deny you the ability to practice your religion.
Neither did anyone in the Bible, and usually they got the opposite. You read like someone who thinks life is fair and impartial and no one ever gets a raw deal. The bible calls our court system, "the courts of the unjust" so go ahead and defend it all you want. But not to me.
Aw, boo hoo. So now you're calling our court system unfair? Why in the world would you say that, and still argue the position you're arguing in this thread?
To: Chemnitz
It does not offend me that Israel was founded as a Jewish nation. It should not offend anyone that America was in fact established as a Christian nation. If that were a fact, it might be offensive. It is not, so there's nothing to be offended about.
Read some history, for pity's sake.
I'd strongly suggest you take your own advice.

Have you ever heard of Charismatic Catholicism? I've heard of the Charismatic Episcopal Church. Can you tell me more about Charismatic Catholocism?
Serious inquiry here. Answer via FReepmail if you want to take it off thread.
Shalom.

"Perhaps you've never heard of the ACLU or the NEA or any of those other groups who hate Christianity and yet want to force me to send my kids to 12 years of public/government school" No one is forcing you to send you kids to private school. You have the option of paying for private school and sending your kids there. Not that I have any love for the NEA or ACLU in most cases. But this town is using the government to shut down this retreat simply because it doesnt like what's being done there.
To: eastsider
The retreat denies any illegal activity, and county officials say there is no evidence of any.
To: All-American Medic
Yes America was founded as a Christian nation, we also believed at the time of our founding, that negroes were not really a man and were property, and that women did not have the right to vote. It's funny how people try to bring up slavery when they are presented with uncomfortable facts about our founding. By your logic, we could then say that the constitution is irellevant because of slavery. Do you want to go down that road?

You can scratch my last question -- just saw the answer.

Thanks. Our posts crossed.
To: All-American Medic
However I defy any religious conservative to defend this town. Don't look to me. I'm on your side on this one.
The article didn't say it was the religious right, though. I suspect it was, but I'm surprised that the press didn't trumpet it out the wazoo. Is it possible that the local churches had nothing to do with this?
I'm not asking if it's likely, just if it's possible.
Shalom.

Then simply you are anti-freedom and anti-constitution. No one is asking you to support them, but you must as an American defend their right to practice their religion as they see fit, as I defend your right to practice yours. To do otherwise is hypocritical.
To: GW in Ohio
Do you have a license to practice stupidity? You need a license? Dang. Will the government never stop encroaching on my personal business? OK, now where do I go to apply.
Shalom.
Oh, wait. I don't practice stupidity any more. I'm already good at it.

I always wondered that too! We are unafraid of graphic violence, but the thought of boobs offends us.
To: ArGee
Maybe they didnt and if it wasnt, then I apologize for my mischaracterization. Maybe you can explain to the folks on here who share your belief, why they are wrong. Since they dont seem to get mine.
To: biblewonk

And you have the brass to bitch about the ACLU/NEA earlier in this thread. You ever wonder why no one answers the call when you cry out for help?
To: Bella_Bru
When I was stationed in Germany, I watched German TV commercials and damn near passed out!! I couldnt believe it. Also it's funny how the countries that are more open sexually, have less rates of sexual crimes than we do.
To: All-American Medic
I think some folks here think we should be born with clothes on.
