NBC News is reporting that Sarah Brady has lung cancer because of her addiction to cigarettes. She earlier switched to low tar cigarettes on the theory they would be "healthier" but got lung cancer anyway.

I have known three people who died of lung cancer, two of them were long-term smokers and the third was addicted to watermelons; I didn't take pleasure in their passing away and I don't think that this is a topic for derision.Uh, Sarah Brady parlayed her husband's being shot into fame and (one can only suspect) fortune as an "anti-gun activist".
Watermelons? Is that a non-sequitor or did I miss something?

I wouldn't wish this on anyone.
I lost many relatives to cancer.

I saw a thread a while back that she had lung cancer.
Also my Mom died of it. I would not wish that on anyone, but for OML.

So have I. It's a horrific way to go. Some people get what they have coming.

You don't smoke watermelons you shoot them into your arm.

Nope, not me! I will silently and without any direct comment on the matter let the irony wash over me like a warm if slightly bitter English beer.

But I hope her successful convalescence gives her time to rethink her assaults on American freedom. When W and Ashcroft face death I wonder if they will rethink their assaults on American freedom?

A horrible and painful illness. Usually a death sentence. May she have a complete healing.

Don't anybody gloat. Don't do it. I am above gloating but it should not go unmentioned that the woman has blood on her hands. How many people have fallen prey to armed thugs, unable to defend themselves thanks in part to the laws she helped pass. This woman is no friend of America. I will not mourn her demise.

She HAS lung cancer already so where is the incentive to quit? The cancer isn't going away if she quits smoking. I have always heard that 'cancer cures smoking' but that is only in the final stages.

Just great. Now she will start a combined law suit against all states because she wanted to use a gun to end her life because she was dying of secondhand smoke caused by her smoking and rebreathing her own smoke, but she had a Brady waiting period and could not do it so she had to suffer.......or am I missing something.
To: Amore
Annual death rate comparison by cause.
If Sarah Brady were honestly trying to reduce deaths in America, she would leave guns alone and go after smokers - forming The Brady Campaign to Reduce Smoking Casualties or something.
That she does not indicates that she is a hypocrite. It also indicates she doesn't care about deaths themselves - and therefore that she is going after guns and gun owners for a different reason other than death rates.
Now, class, why do you suppose this is?
To: Springman
I saw a thread a while back that she had lung cancer Nothing turned up when I did a search for "Brady" or when I did a search for "cancer."
