Obviously, I'm not a diplomat; just an ordinary taxpayer citizen of the USA.
Admittedly I have few answers; while at the same time?
It's got to be the Cuban people who must want their freedom.
If the US were to go down [there] & provide them their liberation through one means or another?
The US would simply once again be subjecting us to the, "Let no good deed go unpunished." rule, I'm afraid.
We have a very similar situation shaping-up in Afganistan right now, as a matter of fact.

There's a very fine line between helping people, & interferring in their soveriegn right to live their lives as they see fit.
My beloved nation has a track record of really botching things up in the past by neglecting to account for this point.

Batista, the Sha of Iran, Marcos & on & on...

I agree. At this point we should not invade or intervene in Cuba. Castro will be dead soon anyway, we shouldn't make him a martyr. The Cuban people will have to be the force for change.
