And yet the fact remains that Jesus was numbered among sinners. He received sinners. He ate with them. According to Middle Eastern tradition going back thousands of years, to eat a meal with someone means you accept them as a brother or sister completely and without reservation. In Middle Eastern thought, the meal is a symbol of great intimacy, indicative of a desire to have a friendship.

Jesus went right into the thick of things in order to spread the Good Word (love, repentance, mercy, salvation). He didn't hole up behind locked doors like some gelatinous more-pious-than-thou coward, fervently praying that the little kids outside on the front stoop in the holloween masks will burn in hell.

Clearly Jesus was a better preacher than your xenophobic buddy, Spurgeon.

Let's take a look at one of the dinners that Jesus had:

And it came to pass, as He went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath day, that they watched Him....

And when one of those who sat at meat with Him heard these things, he said unto Him, "Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the Kingdom of God."

Then Jesus said unto him, "A certain man made a great supper and bade many. And he sent his servant at suppertime to say to them that were bidden, `Come, for all things are now ready.' And they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said unto him, `I have bought a piece of ground, and I need to go and see it. I pray thee have me excused.' And another said, `I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to test them. I pray thee have me excused.' And another said, `I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.' So that servant came and showed his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, `Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor and the maimed and the halt and the blind.' And the servant said, `Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.' And the lord said unto the servant, `Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

For I say unto you that none of those men who were bidden shall taste of my supper.'"

Jesus is specifically telling some of those around him that they will never taste his supper. This is a very funny thing to say to ones brother.

Your attacks are very unChristian. Again I have showed you clear evidence from the scripture that you are not being very thoughtful with the Word of God. You need to reconsider your position.

Oh, and BTW, Spurgeon is not advocating "holin' up". His position is consistent with the Bible; do not even greet one who will not abide in the Doctrine of Christ unless you want to share in his evil. It is the Word of God.

Let's take a look at one of the dinners that Jesus had:

Yes, let's.

"And as He sat at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and sat down with Jesus and His disciples. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, 'Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?' But when He heard it, He said, 'Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. God and learn what this means, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice." For I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners.'" (Mt. 9:10-13)

Since this contradicts your slice o' Bible, then either you are merely being your Satanic self in trying to turn Jesus into some kind of xenophobic monster, or the Bible itself is schizophrenic, or lastly, you just don't know any better. It is obvious that Jesus is not attempting to close sinners out. The entire NT is about His going out into the sea of sinners, casting his net and reeling them in, like a good Piscator. Why the hell would God bother incarnating himself in a world of sin at all, when He could have just sat up there, taken your advice, and kept his door closed forever? Your "no sinners allowed" version of Christianity is bizarre, especially if you consider that no man is without sin. In fact, the Church might as well just close up shop, since there's no point in it's existence, by Woody's rules of xenophobia.

Your attacks are very unChristian.

Your Christianity is very unChristian.

Again I have showed you clear evidence from the scripture that you are not being very thoughtful with the Word of God. You need to reconsider your position.

No you didn't, Satan. You're cutting and pasting through a glass darkly. I'll just keep you behind me, rather than reconsider.

Oh, and BTW, Spurgeon is not advocating "holin' up".

True. It's really more your position.

His position is consistent with the Bible; do not even greet one who will not abide in the Doctrine of Christ unless you want to share in his evil. It is the Word of God.

Then you're missing all the important Words, being so obsessed with the verbs and nouns that you've gone and completely missed the Message.

Benedictus

He is my Bright and glorious Morning Star and the only star I seek. - CCWoody.

Your post and comments below again reveal that your position is completely hypocritical. You claim that the Bible is God's word and then claim that it is in error. You are standing in a position of hypocracy. You have no right to quote any scripture to me because you have already claimed it is unrelaible. You cannot even read the Bible plainly and understand it.

Your comments:

You are very lost.

Isa: 14:12-15:

12 How you have fallen from heaven, O STAR of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations!
13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.
14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."
15 But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.

Quit worshipping at the Throne of Satan. - hogwaller

I will now show you that you are completely reading this passage wrong. How you have fallen from heaven, O STAR of the morning, son of the dawn! If you will look closely, Satan is called the son of the dawn or morning. Thus Satan is the son of the Morning Star. The Bright and glorious Morning Star created Satan, who is the Day Star BTW.

Here is what my Bible says about this particular verse: How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! You see, the Morning Star is the Creator of all. You also forgot this Bible passage:

"I, Jesus, have sent Mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star."
Jesus Christ is my Bright and glorious Morning Star; He is the Alpha and Omega; THE Mighty God and Creator of All. You deny Him and sin continually. You do not abide in the Doctrine of Christ. It is not I who is lost, but you. Repent or you will perish!

Jesus is God, yes? Jesus said to love God and each other, and to forgive 70 times 7.

YOU are ignoring the Word of God, my poor, benighted friend.

No, I have quoted the Word of God directly. Forgiveness and not exchanging a Christian brotherly greeting are different. The Bible commands both. I understand the context of both. But, I do have a single question. You ended your sentence "Jesus is God" with a question mark. Is Jesus THE Counselor, THE Mighty God, THE Everlasting Father?

You claim that the Bible is God's word and then claim that it is in error. - CCwoody
I never claimed that, as I don't believe it. It has some of God's Words in it, but the Bible, like any work of man, is imperfect. An imperfect work with the seeds of perfection in it, but imperfect nonetheless.

Mere play on words. The fact is that you believe the Bible has errors and is therefore, not the infallible Word of God. You have no right to quote me scripture and expect it to have any Authority. When you do quote scripture, you are acting in a double-minded hypocrital manner for it cannot be both Authoritative and imperfect.

Did you like it? Did you disagree with it?

Second. I see you pinged RNMomof7. I know she is Nazarene/Weslaylen (sp). Do you mind if I ask what religion denomination you are? What Church your affiliated with?

I am a non-cessationist Calvinist in a non-denominational apostolic style (like the 1st Century churches).

So, he is Nazarene??

I TOLD YOU LAST NIGHT MY DENOMINATION, BUT YOU DIDN'T LISTEN NOR ARE YOU EVEN TODAY TO ANYTHING ANYONE IS SAYING TO YOU.. BUT I WILL REPEAT IT K??

I was born and raised by wonderful Catholics. (Who btw,..do not believe that the Pope can condemn them to hell as you said yesterday!! Nor do they worship the Virgin Mary. They honor her as Christ told us to do when he died on the Cross. "Behold your mother..." I still believe that was meant for all of mankind, I still honor her!!)

I then went on to tell you that after marrying my husband, I became Protestant. We go to a Presbyterian Church right now. But if they vote for Homosexuals and Singles having sex out of marraige to be able to be ministers,..we will be going to a different Church. It could be Lutheran, it could be Methodist (again based on stands they take regarding the above issue). But it will not be Nazarene or Jehovah Witness. Of that I can assure you!!

Now, I said last night I wouldn't respond to you anymore..and I'm going to do that. I don't know why YOU felt you had to respond to my question to Woody,.. but then again, you respond to every other post all day long!!!!

Mayhap that would be "time" better spent trying to "feel" scripture with your heart,.. "Be in the WORD"..rather than just to your memory so you can "quote" it verbatum without ever really "getting it" IMHO!! (And certainly interpretting it FAR differently than any Christian I care to know).

God Bless you and may he someday reach your heart.

Mary you just spent ton of band width slandering me and then you come here and play the saint...that was posted well before this..

Mary ,Woody is not a Nazarene..he is my brother because he is a born again, believer,a follower of Jesus Christ, saved ,washed in the Blood of the Lamb.....

Mary you need to ask God into your heart...because you are not a Christian. you have combined Catholic error with your own brand of doctrine and come up with something that will not bring you to Christ.

I didn't know they did either!! Didn't know it was exorcism. I was told once by a Christian that I thought a lot of.. that if I asked in the name of Christ who shed his blood for us, and if I said it to the accursed person three times, that it was a "prayer" for them...and would make SATAN leave them. You see dear.. I honestly think you're dealing with real live demons.

Now,.. I also think "promises" are meant to be kept (says so in the Bible). So I wll not respond to any more of your lunatic behavior until you find the true path to God, I PROMISE!!! I know you will try to "trick" me, and to make me stumble,.. but I won't. I know now who you really are.

Every time I see a post of yours that is so misguided, I will say the above prayer. Every time you insult someone or hurt someone, I may answer them, but not you. I will also repeat that prayer. Why?? Because I say this will all honesty.. after reading how Satan can quote scripture better than anyone.. how he uses it to steer people AWAY from God, I think your are possessed with evil/Satan. Thats my opinion. Your a cruel evil person. I pray for you. From the sounds of things, your childhood was really messed up, but I don't think that's an excuse for what your doing in the name of your god.

My God, and that of any who long to know His Love and His heart.. would open His arms to ALL. But you judge all. Thats wrong, and its not the interpretation of the Bible that I've been taught, not ever!!

He can even change you RNMomof7. But your brand of professed christianity, your horrid judgement of Catholics, and Jews, and Protestents, is deplorable. You are so blinded by evil you cannot even see the hate you spew.

MAY MY GOD,.. WHO IS A LOVING AND ALL KNOWING GOD....BLESS YOU AND PROTECT YOU, AND I PRAY HE HELPS YOU SEE "HIM" AS HE TRULY IS.. NOT AS SATAN WANTS YOU TO SEE HIM.

Let me know when you find him. Then we'll talk. But not while you do the harm your doing in my Gods name. It, your god, isn't the God I follow. And I thank MY LORD for that!!

As to the Bible.. I read it every day .. not just when it suits me. And no.. I don't even try to take it to memory. I try to live it. Big Difference!!!

And now we have Christian fanatics who bomb abortion clinics.

These people are not Christian.

I am pretty sure the vast majority of those responsible for the Crusades and Inquisition were not true Christians either. Many true Christians were victims of the Inquisition, not the perpetrators of it.

Similarly, many are saying that the people responsible for the 9/11 attack are not true Moslems. In both cases, it comes down to semantics, who's defining what makes a "true" Christian or Moslem. The problem is, there's little in either the Bible (especially the Old Testament) or the Koran which would rule out killing large numbers of people in the name of God/Allah.
