It might be "pathetic" but the pipeline was dead and now it is a possibility again. The war against afghanistan has been planned for at least a year and was reported in June as a joint effort between the U.S. and Russia with aid coming from India.

What is pathetic is your suggestion that this farcical pipelie thing motivated US policy regarding what it is doing now in Afghanistan in any way. It puts you in the tin foil category. It is ludicrous. Indeed the idea that a pipeline in Afghanistan is in any way economical for the foreseeable future in such a distant and unstable and violent place is itself ludicrous, but that is a minor point.
