Aren't they speculating that this is a case of
inhalation anthrax? If so, I don't think it could be part of the DC stuff. Even though the poor woman is 90, it would still take thousands of spores to be inhaled...unless it was an envelope full of the junk.
For my part, right now I'm more concerned about ridding CT of the dreaded strain 'Pacifus maximus' that has been infecting this great state for too many years.

I agree - how many 90+ year-olds trust "direct deposit" - they want that check in their hands!

.......are not recommending medication for Kennedy since blood alcohol level is by itself enough to kill anthrax spores on contact.

She lives in Old Saybrook on the shoreline.....

From www.foxnews.com
"It's difficult to explain how the person contracted anthrax," he said. "There is no evidence they contracted the disease as a result of a criminal act."
Yeah sure....did the Anthrax crawl up into her bed with her on mistake...
Nothing to see here move along

Well if ya realy want some tinfoil, the guvmint has been trying to do away with currency altogether, would rather everyone use debit cards and E-deposit.Hard to conduct the drug trade without cash you know, but on the other hand the gumint doesn't realy want to end the drug trade does it.Or is this the new begining,go ahead I got my fire extinguisher ready.

Ah...the missing crop duster that no one discusses anymore, perhaps??? Or maybe back to my original theory that that Atta and the boys dusted cities before their final flight and it dissipated (mostly) with relatively few sporadic cases appearing as it settled down to earth gradually.

I have been wondering if the anthrax terrorist could be a cab driver. It would explain an elderly lady and a NY city nurse, neither one probably drove a car.

I agree with this thinking.
I have always thought that the Anthrax sender is someone who has access to drugs, and either works in a pill factory, or is involved in the distribution of pills to hospitals and Pharmacies.

FYI
NIGHTLINE UPDATE: In the last hour, the governor of Connecticut has
announced that a woman in her 90's may have anthrax. She has been
hospitalized for several days, and was thought originally to have
pneumonia, but several preliminary tests have come back positive for
anthrax. The results of a more definitive test by the Centers for Disease
Control in Atlanta may be available as early as tomorrow morning.
We are changing our broadcast for tonight. We'll have the latest on this
case, which doesn't fit any of the previous patterns, and John Donvan will
report on the history of anthrax and how little is actually known about
how it acts.

You mean the crop-duster that has no spraying equipment on it, and carried one person, meaning it's probably a WEE bit hard to hijack unless it was someone with multiple personality disorder, not to mention not being any more useful to a terrorist than any number of thousands upon thousands of light planes?
It's missing because it likely crashed in deep water. They'll never find it, which isn't unusual for planes that crash over the open ocean.

Interesting idea but probably unlikely, although the age matches.
Kate Hepburn has lived on the eastern shore of CT (Old Saybrook) for a very long time.
Oxford is a rural area, not too far from exclusive, rural-chic, celeb-infested Roxbury but it's certainly not known as a 'wealthy' area. If it turns out to be Hepburn we'll find out, eventually.
Of course I hope not and I hope that this elderly lady - whoever she is - survives.

The anthrax is in spore form - it can sit dormnant for months or years. This can make it quite devilish to trace it about... Legionair's disease was an infecting spore that had laid dormant for decades...until it reimmergance in a convention...thus the new name.
Spores do go dormant in the soil...until disturbed.

Atta and his roommate in Boca Raton were seeking out antibiotics shortly before they left the area. This has been in the news for weeks. One of them had the classic rash preceding the black sore from cutaneous anthrax. This is one reason why the home grown terrorist propoganda is so ridiculous.
