The 'PATRIOT' Act seems to be a catch-all for a lot of politicians to force some very shady things through. Remember, RIAA (Record industry group) was going to try to get a rider that would allow them to search/hack people's computers to make sure they didn't have mp3s/etc.

I'm against anything that allows even a little infringement on the Constitution - It's not George W. and company that scare me, it's the future Klinton's and Reno's that could get their hands on this.

>And honestly, few Congressmen will vote to repeal this Act, because it will be political suicide! So it will stay on the books indefinatley..like so many others

A lot of analysts are saying that most of the act won't hold up under judicial review, but still, the fact that it was passed is scary.

...they can't see the forest for the tree's
While not giving blessing to any political affiliation...
Sometimes looking at the individual trees allows one to determine exactly what kind of forest one has entered into.
You know...like a "redwood" forest.
If it were composed of many different types of trees it wouldn't be a "redwood forest" now would it?

I went for the win last time and lost big time with Bush and many others.
Isn't disillusionment such a refining thing.

Obviously, with bills such as this, passed unread, your vote is already wasted. So why not choose yourself how it is wasted and vote third party? I never have in the past, but it is becoming a much more desired viable option.

We had far more restrictions during WWII and all of them were sunset laws and they all were null and void after the war.

good point...

we also didn't have a bush in the white house then...

The thing that gets me is, every time something happens, they don't tighten the borders, they pass laws that clamp down on everyday Joe six Pack.

And with all the political correctness rubbish, I think you would end up getting treated better if you wore a turban!

My family was on this continent before the Revolutionary war!!
