Don't forget to attack domestic terrorism, too
The Oregonian ^ | 11/19/01 | Nick Nichols

Posted on 11/19/2001 7:35:08 AM PST by SAMWolf

The people who attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on Sept. 11, and the unknown killer who sent anthrax through the U.S. mail, aren't the only terrorists waging war on America.

Environmental and animal-rights terrorists are fighting a less visible, less damaging, but still serious guerrilla war against our freedom and our way of life. These terrorists use fires and explosives to attack America's free-enterprise system, our environmental policies, our universities, the use of animals for food and medical research, our judicial system and our values.

Unfortunately, most Americans ignore these home-grown terrorists, just as most of us paid little attention to Osama bin Laden and his gang of killers until they dramatically escalated their efforts.

We shouldn't make the mistake of ignoring this clear and present danger. Ours is a nation of laws. Anyone guilty of violating those laws -- especially extremists engaging in violence that could be deadly -- should be caught, convicted and canned.

American-born environmental and animal-rights terrorists, who have been particularly active in Oregon and Washington state, certainly aren't in the same league as bin Laden and his al-Qaida gang. The American terrorists have destroyed millions of dollars in property and violated the law with impunity, but they have not murdered any innocent people -- yet.

However, authorities fear fatalities will come, either unintentionally or in a deliberate escalation of violence by these self-appointed defenders of Mother Earth.

Like bin Laden and his killers, America's home-grown terrorists believe the rightness of their holy cause puts them above laws written by mere mortals.

And like bin Laden, arsonists and bomb-makers who preach love for the flowers, the trees, the birds and the bees believe they are not terrorists at all. All terrorists see themselves as heroic fighters for justice.

One of the most active eco-terrorist groups, the Earth Liberation Front, or ELF, boasts of its arson attacks the way soldiers boast of victories on the battlefield. The group says it is responsible for a $12 million arson at a Vail, Colo., ski resort; a $1 million arson at an Oregon lumber company; destruction of the University of Washington's Center for Urban Horticulture; and the burning of luxury homes, sport utility vehicles and logging trucks.

Some hopeful souls believed the Sept. 11 attacks would horrify our home-grown terrorists and lead them to pursue a peaceful path. Unfortunately, that has proven unrealistic.

On the same day that the World Trade Center and Pentagon were attacked, the Animal Liberation Front, or ALF, took credit for torching a McDonald's restaurant in Tucson, Ariz., causing an estimated $500,000 damage.

Less than two weeks later, cowards spray-painted swastikas, obscenities and the initials ALF and ELF on a Ronald McDonald House in Tucson. Ronald McDonald Houses are charitable facilities that provide more than 3,000 rooms in 19 countries to house families of children hospitalized nearby with life-threatening illnesses. McDonald's restaurants are a target for animal-rights groups.

And just this month, police in Houghton, Mich., disarmed two bombs at forestry buildings at Michigan Tech University. Police suspect radical environmentalists set the bombs, which could have killed or maimed innocent students.

On Sept. 10, Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida were considered obscure and unimportant by most Americans. We can't afford to continue viewing America's home-grown terrorists that way.

If we don't stop these cowards from breaking the law today, we will give them the green light to escalate their terror tactics to horrifying proportions tomorrow.

Sam thanks for posting this. You live near many of these enviral terrorists, stay safe!

With Jake Reno and the current enviral governor of Oregon, Katznslobber, these domestic terrorists have had a free reign to commit their acts of terror for 8 years. 60% of the enviral crimes have happened in the state of Oregon! Too many people on our left coast look at these enviral terrorists as heroes like those who loved the unibomber!

I still feel that some enviral who loves critters and hates Americans is behind the Anthrax mailings. He or she probably works in a animal hospital or care clinic and would have access to Anthrax cultures and the basic knowledge to do these mailings! Or they received help from Atta or some Iraqi to commit these acts of terror!

Sooner or later these fruitcakes are going to kill someone, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Either someone is going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time or a rescue/fire person is going to get killed.

I'd support pinpoint strikes on ELF stongholds in Eugene and Corvalis.

It probably has happened, and the left wing envirals in power as governors or justice or the media just spiked the story!

The pin point strikes at Eugene and Corvallis should take in the enviral left wing professors, judges and county DA's who have shielded these anarchists and enviral terrorists for decades! That left wing Eugene newspaper that hobbbbs likes to quote, should be investigated from top to bottom!

Do you have any of the latest data on the Alf's and Elf's and their terrorist acts on the East Coast?

They were really doing bad things before 9/11. I don't know if they have stopped or their latest things are being covered!

The same thing maybe happening re the coverage of their terrorist activities out here on the west coast. Often the coverage by our left wing mediots on an Alf or Elf activity was more PR for the terrorists rather than good reporting!

Maybe their mediot friends know better than to post an article about the Alfs/Elfs which is really a pr push for them as Brave Activists against evil corporate America!

I discovered this link below during the enviral wars re the Kalmath Basin, (Good web site on enviral terrorists and actions of envirals)

Also go to Yahoo.com and do a Google search about once a month on Alf and Elf and Peta!

Interesting on these searches, sometimes an excellent article has been written by a Portland Oregonian writer, a Seattle Newspaper writer or recently a Sac Bee writer. What makes these articles interesting is these news papers are owned and controlled by left wing envirals. A friend said that they publish and bury articles showing the terrorism to have on file that they did actually carry such an article.

The Long Island actions by Alf were very bad before 9/11!

Running into these vile clymers on a remote river while fly fishing is probably more dangerous than running into a cougar or angry bear!

Here is how the Peta people feel about humans, including the little boy who was killed by their beloved sharks!

PUBLISHED TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2001

Animal rights group scraps `revenge` ad Amie K. Streater @PensacolaNewsJournal.com

An animal rights group announced Monday it's abandoning an advertising campaign planned for Pensacola after a shark attack killed a 10-year-old Virginia boy.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was trying to buy billboard space in downtown Pensacola for a sign they wanted displayed next week.

The sign would have read, "Would you give your right arm to know why sharks attack? Could it be revenge? PETA GoVeg.com."

On Sunday, David Peltier of Richmond, Va., died after a Saturday evening shark attack at Virginia Beach.

"It happened just minutes away from our headquarters," said Dan Shannon, fishing campaign coordinator for Norfolk-based PETA. "We're just not comfortable with this billboard anymore."

Shannon said PETA had been negotiating with an outdoor advertising company that had recently rejected the ad, he said.

On July 6, a 7-foot bull shark bit off the right arm of 8-year-old Jessie Arbogast at Gulf Islands National Seashore. It also bit off about a third of the muscle in Jessie's right thigh.

Doctors were able to reattach his arm, but the Mississippi boy remains in a coma.

"I think it's very inappropriate and it is insensitive to Jessie and his family and not in keeping with the community's concern for Jessie," Monte Blews, general manager of the Santa Rosa Island Authority, said of the proposed billboard. "I'm glad they pulled it."

Shannon said the group is trying to convey the message that "humans are much more of a danger to sharks than sharks are to us."

The organization's Web site states that mankind, "has a meat addiction that kills more than 50 million sharks and billions of other sea animals annually, in contrast to the 10 people killed worldwide by sharks last year.

can't plant vegetables, bake bread, or cruise the supermarkets," the group's site stated.

The group acknowledged in a news release Monday that, "right now people would just shoot the messenger without hearing the message."

To go to original site, (Good insight to how Peta feels about you)

Remember the firefighters up north that died because water couldn't be ok'ed to take from a river or stream because of some protected critter...so some have died because of these terrorists' actions already.
