Try to resist the urge to be funny if it means leading folks astray and only further encouraging them to believe I'm some sort of wacked out, Bush-hating conspiracy theorist. I'm sick of it.

I don't dislike you, Aske15 -- I thought you were doing a great thing with the firemen's funeral threads, for example -- but I do have a problem with you flinging charges against George H. W. Bush being behind Reagan's assassination attempt, and accusing the Bushes of being controlled by some shadowy forces.

It's just that you misunderstood me. My point was that Bush likely was NOT behind the assassination attempt (whether or not he knew more about it than others simply given his intel connections. Surely he has some worthwhile contacts.)

I think in terms of the mob (which, along with Drug Money, has been the primary means of touching and controlling our pols until terrorism finally erupted domestically). I think it far more plausible that Neil's supping with the Hinkley's sent a message to the Bush crowd rather than implicates them.

But, of course, that's all conjecture on my part in comport with my thoughts on their being more Useful Idiots as a rule.

As for their being controlled by shadowy forces ...

They ARE the shadowy forces in many respects, Virago. Face it. I think George H. Bush has been very upfront in this regard ... talking of how folks probably couldn't countenance it if we knew precisely what went on behind the scenes.

Were these men of absolute integrity, it might be one thing that they mix it up -- practicing the alchemy of pragmatism -- where we can't see them. But they aren't. They're shrewd. And I'll just tell you right now that the first time I read George H. on the subject of population control in the late 60's and when listened to George W. actually split the baby in his damn near Scriptural, Solomon-like decision, my stomach churned, my heart ached and my eyes filled with tears.

We haven't a chance, NYCViagro, of these men EVER understanding or protecting some semblance of self-evident truth or civil rights when they are so far gone they can't understand the enduring truth inherent in the statement: "ALL MEN are CREATED equal".

So ... in my book, they're idiots at best, self-serving, hubris-ridden businessmen who've no particular concern for anyone but their own at worst.

I don't hate them (or anyone, for that matter) and I certainly don't think the perennial front-runner and the GOP dynasty would dirty their hands by confecting some poorly executed assassination attempt compounded with some strange out-of-the-blue contact between the Hinkley and Bush families.

Does that help?
